Happy The Rock GIF

see y'all soon
👀 I think I know what this is referring to - tomorrow could be a very nice day

Sounds terrible, Coleman hasn’t proved anything to be talking like that.
Meh, he sounds like he felt his role was limited due to Kofi, and he's undeniably correct. Staff needs to sell him on his role for next season, which they should be able to do now that Kofi's going pro and we're looking to have more spacing and bouncy guards/wings.

I guess for me, a rebuild implies that whatever was built before wasn't good enough to last.

We have something solid that's already built. At this point, we're just sustaining it. Improving it. I can't call it a rebuild anymore than I would call Kentucky or Duke a rebuild in a given year. And it's not like we're LSU. This transition year was always part of the plan (part of the orange and blueprint if you will). We're prepared for it. A changing of the guard? Sure. But not a rebuild.

Edit: we just got a Rock gif so this post is now irrelevant.

That’s fair if you’re using that definition. I tend to think of it in the way that EVERY program has a “rebuilding year,” and they’re inevitable. In other words, it just means you graduated some studs, and the new generation is still young!

I’ll compromise on calling it a reloading year, though, because you’re correct - we are continuing to build upon a new excellent era of Illini Basketball. :)

For some reason I doubt the people referring to this as a rebuild were implying that a team that has won a Big Ten Tournament and a Big Ten Championship the last two seasons wasn't "good enough" and are instead referring to the complete overhaul of the roster from one season to the next, but maybe I'm giving them too much credit.
