Exciting times.

Bad for coaches is they have to recruit 7/24 year around now but since Brad gets $5M per year and assistants get +$400k I don't see how they can complain. Anybody making that kind of salary is going to have to pay a heavy price.

Assuming we don't lose any more players I am excited about our team. It is very young but has great talent and athleticism. Without Kofi it might be challenging to stop Dickinson and Edey in the paint.

I have to believe we will add at least two upperclassmen from transfer portal

My wish list

- Sr PG
- Sr Center

with 1300 kids available I am sure we can get two.

The question is whether they will be Alphonso Plummer or Mark Alstork. Sam McClaurin or Mike Thorne.

1 PM and still no news; unacceptable. How am I expected to work in these conditions??!
I am just going to assume we have nine scholarship players for next year until I hear otherwise - I know that wont be the case but it's best for my sanity to just lie to myself at this point...

We arguably ended the season in the 15-20 range, and the only guy returning who played “significant” minutes is Hawkins. No way we’re top 25 with our current roster.
You're assuming we are replacing all those losses with replacement-level players. That isn't the case.

Exactly. Nor is the rest of the Big Ten. It's fun to think about rankings and projections, but Wisconsin wasn't supposed to be competing for a Big Ten title this year, and then Johnny Davis happened.

I have to agree with this. Unless we land some big time transfers, I’d be shocked to see us start in the top 25

That big time player that would have us in the top 25 declared for the NBA draft about a week ago. Without Kofi there isn't a top 25 team as currently constructed. Add a solid transfer 5, backup ball handler to play with & instead of Skyy, Grandison comes back and Shannon comes then I would say they'd be knocking on the door. I'm asking a lot, but they need a lot.

Headed out to lunch on my prep period at school, when I return from my break in an hour, I better see Rothstein breaking the news that TSJ, Ramey, Council IV, and Malachai Smith have all committed to Illinois.

I am not necessarily concerned with where we start, although we have been included in a few preseason top 25 lists, I believe typically in the 20-25 range. Skyy Clark was a significant addition plus Epps and Rodgers appear to be B1G ready and seem likely to play significant minutes. That doesn't even count our existing young players. Melendez seems poised to become a star, Hawkins looked to finally be putting the pieces together at the end of the season, and Goode gave us some quality minutes. And the roster isn't even finished yet.

The error bards are large, but I think this year's team has the potential to be better than last year's team by season's end, particularly because we won't be having to ride two players (Kofi and Trent) so hard. We should be more versatile but with a huge question related to how we replace the productivity provided by Kofi.

Do you honestly think that we will be ranked heading into next season? I think that is not going to happen. If it does about half the B10 will be ranked. Eventually we may but no way will we be ranked going into the season.
Michigan had a high preseason ranking based on the number 3 recruiting class that included two 5 stars. We just don't have that level of difference making talent arriving at this point.

Of course, the ranking is based on what the rest of the country has happening as well and I can't speak to that.

Yeah, but we’re relying on a lot of “seems poised” and “appears to be ready” while other teams have upperclassmen who have already proven it. RJ could be a star, but he also averaged 4PPG, so who’s going to give us credit for that? I’m not saying we can’t be good, I’m just saying as the roster currently stands, we’re not cracking the preseason top 25 unless Andy Katz casts every ballot.
