Does anyone here expect a change of pace for tomorrow, Fridays always seem promising but who knows… any opinions?

Miserable to be a CBB coach right now …

You’re going to see a lot of guys starting to retire early or head to the NBA … I’ve had coaches who consistently have top 25 teams tell me “it’s not even enjoyable anymore.”
They dont know what misery is if they say that .Misery is a sick kid or a crappy job. DI power 5 coaches once they get there can retire after one year or coach and get paid handsomely, misery making 4mil a year, 15 grand a day seven days a week. I don't feel sorry for you. If they are miserable then someone else will take that gig in a second. There are not that many coachs in a position to leave jobs like this.

You have just expressed what is the possible beginning of the downfall of CBB and its integrity. As a fan, hope this is not true as it will be a sad, sad situation...

Nothing more enjoyable than getting things for free

Maybe not how I’d phrase it, but amen. There will be maybe ten guys who say “I’d rather make millions to coach in the nba than to deal with this”. And there will be everyone else who says, “my 7-figure job just got a lot harder, but I guess I’ll do the work rather than be a 5-figure high school b-ball coach”. Sorry your 7-figure job got harder, but there’s a long line of people ready to take your place.

Lol yeah I'm just not gonna feel sorry that coaches' jobs are getting harder and they don't feel like it's "as fun". These kids are finally getting paid after college athletes have been unpaid laborers for decades. Good for them. Coaches will have to adapt. They'll be fine.

Unfriendly and undue envy is cropping up in a number of recent posts on this thread. Not a good look.

As someone who used to think this, then built a successful business that pays me pretty well, I’ll say that no amount of money solves internal issues. It’s just easy to experience misery with money in the bank as it with an empty account. And if you don’t enjoy what you do, the full account feels just as empty.

Kind of my point exactly.

If your not happy, sell your business or quit and be set for the rest of your life. If you make millions a year and aren't happy then quit..

Your blessed to be able to be in that position like few are......I'm not in a bad spot but many are I try to help...the basic needs and securities on Maslow's pyramid are covered in that circumstance. I have no sympathy for a coach making millions I just don't.. not buying what your selling...please one reason I feel for Kofi is he passed on setting himself up for the rest of his life and I pray he made the right choice . Coached making millions just quit if it's so tough..

I'm not sure where to put this... it's NIL, it's transfer portal, it's a lot of stuff. But I'm sure we all assumed this was happening behind the scenes anyway but for it to come out this quickly... I'm surprised.

Yeah, there it is. I was trying to close my eyes and imagine this wasn't the inevitable end-point, but we all knew it was. Flat out negotiating college basketball contracts. I'll still love the games, but the offseason is going to be disappointing for a few years at least.

Between these complaints about "he got this much I deserve more" and everyone having "camps" that are never happy with a given situation, its going to be really hard to have a core that sticks around for long enough to properly gel. Like don't get me wrong, I think BU is doing very well in the current climate and we should be a decent team with this new group. But I just doubt we will ever see something like we got with 5 years of Trent and Damonte and 3 years each of Ayo Kofi and Giorgi ever again. That might have been it.

To anyone who knows: When a player "receives" a NIL deal, is it a contract with restrictions on both sides? For example, can Illinois Guardians sign a player to a NIL deal that says, "We'll pay you $200K per year. If you transfer before Year 3, you will pay us back 50% of all earnings."? Is there a way the NIL deals themselves might be structured to induce a little stability?

Has the NCAA offered any thoughts on how to correct this?

When does the Covid freebie transfer/season run out? After next year?

Then does it go back to sitting out a year, waivers, grad transfers? Or does everyone now get a 1 time free no sit out transfer forever?
