A player leaving because the coaches bring in guys specifically to take his place isn't disloyalty. Its recognizing they don't respect him. That is 100% not how you should treat your players.

And if that is the "new era" of college basketball then I guarantee you that college basketball will go down in popularity. A large number of fans(and donors) are not going to tune in to watch whatever group of mercenaries a team brings in each year. You can say that's just the way it is, but that doesn't excuse it.
It’s called upgrading your roster…..

Not to be nitpicky, but this isn’t true either. Michigan will accept up to 60 hours of transfer credit. They do have a policy, however, not to accept upperclassmen transfers. Illinois has the same rule, but it appears that Shannon got a waiver of that rule.

Good for Josh. Definitely a special situation. He made his case and prevailed.

I'm usually on here 24/7, but just got off a flight from Vegas wrestling a 3-year old and a 10-month old (both mine) and don't have it in me to read 34 pages of Bryce Hopkins and gifs. I did see that TSJ committed. Any of nuggets of info someone could kindly summarize?

Expect 2 more players coming in, one of them might be Nance from NU. Coleman might transfer. Bryce Hopkins was seen strutting around Green Street.

Exactly. That was probably a big factor. Shannon gets it done in the classroom. He deserves to be a University of Illinois student. There's nothing noble or well-intentioned about these transfer policies that deny credits from carrying over. They are 100% about getting kids to enroll into branch campuses of schools like Michigan and Illinois, so the tuition money all flows to the same place. There is nothing else behind them. No reason a genEd at University of Michigan Dearborn is inherently more worthy of counting towards a UM degree than a course at Texas Tech.
I think universities do have the right to say that if you get a degree from the University of Illinois, half of your credit has to be earned at the University of Illinois. Otherwise, what’s to distinguish it from a degree from any other school. The University spends a lot of money recruiting professors and making capital investments in order to make a University of Illinois degree mean something.

The academic side is something that definitely needs to be addressed in this new age of free transfers. A lot of kids are going to be losing a lot of earned academic credit that may prevent them from ever earning degrees if it’s not. Underwood said this himself the other day.

Had a dream my dad passed yesterday, felt way too real. My wife's uncle died completely unexpectedly two weeks ago. My dad is the one who got me into Illini basketball in the first place and now he always asks me for the recruiting updates. I'll definitely give him a call.
I’m going to call my dad too. Except my Dad is a Wisconsin fan, so I’ll be calling to gloat. Good natured in-family rivalries can be a bonding experience too.

Lots of nuggets about eating establishments of days gone past..........scUM admissions suck and the best is the "" Huntie "" baby going off on the Texas Tech coach calling him a coward..........Nice choice of words considering Huntie plays for the biggest coward in college sports........Ducks conference games and sucker slaps other coaches........look in the mirror Huntie baby............you're a big pile of cow dung in a place where cow dung seeps out of the rafters......

Other than that , just another day at the Loyalty board , which is the best ever !!!

That’s true, but signing Nance doesn’t mean they are taking Coleman’s minutes. Right now we have two guys for the 4/5. Gotta bring in somebody.
Does anyone know if Nance has actually reached out to BU and staff?? or vice versa?? or is this just LAD wishful thinking that he would land here if pulls out of draft. Yes I know he trained with TA when he was younger, but is that the only line connecting the dots at this point?

I don't want to see Hawk leave. Everyone loves the good 4-year development story. He has great upside and unique talent when he's on. With that said, this isn't your mama's college basketball. With the bag grab of NIL and the transfer portal, you can't sit back and slowly rebuild. Need to answer the door when opportunity knocks regardless of who that pushes out. Strike while the iron is hot and build momentum that can last a decade or get caught behind in this new stage of the game.

Brad has always been in Hawk's corner and displayed great positivity on Hawk. The staff has done a tremendous job developing him into a sought after talent. They delivered on their end. All you can do is hope that is enough.

Dan really oughta host a Loyalty-con every year, right around portal time.

Look i am gonna flat out say it, I was bummed when players started leaving but the guys we have coming in, and rumors of others are straight upgrades! Even if Hawkins leaves. Us old schoolers cant help but hope players want to grind their way into a starting position all while building team chemistry with one another but that is not todays reality. The best coaches of today and here on out will be the ones that can mold a new roster together and get them to gel by March. Lets hope Brad has what it takes to mold these young men into a TEAM!

Welp, I woke up before dawn to spend 6 hours of simulator training today.......thinking engine fires, flap failures, bird strikes, rapid cabin depressurization, and emergency evacuations onto the runway...would be the most exciting things I saw today.
