Wow, this thread is getting really confusing? I thought I was caught up an hour or so ago. Now I have no idea what you all are talking about. Are we still talking about Pete Nance?

It's oft cited, including in an article I found in the Tribune. Reading one of Eddie Johnson's comments he talks of him getting injured. So perhaps the legend of "season ending" came from an injury that affected his game.

It is true that his injury changed the projection of that team, but it happened the year before. If I recall he reinjured it again in 78, but he was never the player he was as a freshmen. That was my class and I felt bad for him and the team.

Years, he missed previous season, but Lanter played the 79 season. He actually made THE pass to EJ. He also tried to return after the injury suffered during the loss to tOSU. He was not the same though. The stats for 1978/79 bear that out, although I am pretty sure he started more than the 1 game shown here:
