Yeah let’s do that.I’d be so happy if the entire Big Ten won and then Indiana got pummeled down back to reality.

Personally, I do not consider that in any way a loss. Love navy jerseys.Loser has to wear blue jerseys instead of orange for the rest of the season.
Wooden, definitely not…why too sanctimonious for me.Just to stir the pot….do you think of class when you think of Wooden and Henson?
Don't think it's any kind of snub. More likely they just paired us up with Syracuse because that matchup has never happened in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge before.Kinda cool to be playing Cuse since we haven't played them in a long time...but IMO it's another slap in the face to Brad and the program he has built. Torvik has Syracuse ranked 83rd and 10th in the ACC.
But hey, I'll take more bulletin board material any day. I have a feeling this team is going to be last year's Arizona. Lots of new faces, media isn't super high on them, but they blow through the non con and shoot up the rankings very quickly.
I prefer the chip on the shoulder perspective and will conveniently ignore that the simplest reason is probably the correct one.Don't think it's any kind of snub. More likely they just paired us up with Syracuse because that matchup has never happened in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge before.

4-4 and 6 toss ups from what I see. Not excited for the UofI draw but they have plenty of marquee non-conference games
I think they would have put UofI with Duke but the Illini just went to Cameron recently. UI and UNC was going to be the top match up. I kind of wish they would have given UofI Virginia instead of MichKinda cool to be playing Cuse since we haven't played them in a long time...but IMO it's another slap in the face to Brad and the program he has built. Then we would have to watch Virginia play... woof...I think they would have put UofI with Duke but the Illini just went to Cameron recently. UI and UNC was going to be the top match up. I kind of wish they would have given UofI Virginia instead of Mich
probably didn’t consider it given that we could play virginia in vegasI think they would have put UofI with Duke but the Illini just went to Cameron recently. UI and UNC was going to be the top match up. I kind of wish they would have given UofI Virginia instead of Mich
Purdue is on my loss list too as I hope the Illini will sooner as opposed to later pass both Purdue (8 behind) and Indiana (32 behind) on the all time win list.I’d be so happy if the entire Big Ten won and then Indiana got pummeled down back to reality.
But then again, we played Arizona 3x in 00-01probably didn’t consider it given that we could play virginia in vegas
We’ll make mintzmeat out of him.Judah Mintz is a top 50ish freshman guard, and they have two other fringe top 100 guys coming in. As long as we don't get bogged down by the zone, we should win.
I donhave my doubts about ch at the 5 at times this upcoming season but if he can raise his 3pt percentage by even 5-6% from last it will give traditional bigs fits cause it will take him out of the paint more and expose there slower footwork and expose the paint to the new cutters that were brought in.either way it will be interesting to see what happensI feel that we will be vulnerable to big, beefy front court players next year if our only true center gets in foul trouble, or doesn't develop into a playable option. One of Kofi's great skills was staying out of foul trouble, better that any other big man Illini I've ever seen. In the normal course of events, Dainja will likely be foul prone and require relief. I'm not confident that CH will hold up against the likes of Purdue, Wisconsin, MSU, Michigan, and the rest of the Big Ten frontcourts.
I trust Underwood et al is continuing to look for a qualified back (Butz?, or ??) Anyone know any candidates?
During Boeheim's tenure (which goes back to the Eisenhower administration, though I may be mistaken and maybe it's Truman instead) they've apparently only worn blue three times, twice against Kentucky. He won't do it out of superstition because they had to wear them in the '75 final four, when he was still an assistant, and lost. I think it would be kind of funny to make them wear blue alts for this game.We should wear our orange just so they can’t.
I think they could just wear their whites if we opt for orange. Didn’t that happen earlier this year (against Wisconsin, maybe)?During Boeheim's tenure (which goes back to the Eisenhower administration, though I may be mistaken and maybe it's Truman instead) they've apparently only worn blue three times, twice against Kentucky. Yeah, and they probably would. I don't think they were allowed to do that way back when.I think they could just wear their whites if we opt for orange. Didn’t that happen earlier this year (against Wisconsin, maybe)?
Edit: it was the Ohio State game.
How many beefy bigs did we play last year?I feel that we will be vulnerable to big, beefy front court players next year if our only true center gets in foul trouble, or doesn't develop into a playable option. This team seems like they might have to call time out a lot.Love, Leaky, Pants and Puff
Actually, he was an avid bridge player.Perhaps. It's the guys you love beating that ultimately get your respect sometimes. This will be very controversial; but Wooden, Knight, and Henson remain my top three fav coaches in college basketball ... in no specific order. Henson once said that he didn't have any hobbies or waste time fishing because he was all about basketball. Gotta love the guy.
1 and he's still at Purdue. Maybe if we run enough circles around him he will elbow himself in the face. How many beefy bigs did we play last year?
