Recruiting as we knew it is a thing of the past. Some years they will take 2-4 prep kids. Some years 1. Transfer portal is changing the game
Does that mean we only take the HS players we really want/need and leave the voids to be filled by the portal?

If we have a great year I am assuming TSJ, MM, Coleman and Skyy are NBA bound

in 2023 if that happens we will only have 9 players on scholarship so Brad can bring 3 more in

Bigs
Dainja , Brandon L , Zacharie, Ty , Amani
Guards
Sencire, Jayden, RJ, Luke
Don't really see these players come back except for Skyy. My guess is Skyy wants to be confident enough for the 1st round. RJ has a outside chance IMO though.

Thanks, I get that. From your answer though I’m going to assume we are indeed in wait and see mode as far as HS recruits. I can live with Hansberry being the lone 2023 HS recruit should that come to pass. Nice to be in position to be picky and use all of the options available for bringing in new players.
I think every year is going to be wait and see for anyone outside the top 50-75 range.

Id add a possibility for Hawkins as well not to sure of 1st round after the season but seen a couple pre draft boards have him in 2nd round

Sorta of. Don't think you'll see top programs taking flyers or projects anymore.
It's Moneyball in a way, in the sense that it will probably continue to evolve as different strategies get more popular and therefore crowded and then opportunities arise in the areas that get left behind.

We all know that. The difference I see though is CH is less likely to come back. He either goes pro or transfer. I can see Skyy come back if he is not ready (a.k.a. Ayo's decision in 2020.)

Is there a chance that Hansberry, Morez, and James Brown can fit in a lineup together? Not saying they have to, but that length would be fun to watch. Put Rodgers at PG and RJ at SG. That team might have trouble shooting the ball but I couldn't see how teams would score on us or out rebound us.

I agree it's over 50%, but there is a reason they had to change schools instead of going into the NBA already this year.
It is close to 100% on Mayer. He'll be a super senior.

Shannon will be a regular senior and has a super senior left, so he could return.

They both have unused regular and medical redshirts?

There have been conflicting posts on Illii hoops forums that leave considerable doubt and no clarity for readers to be certain of whether or not Shiannon will have the option of another year at Illinois. Does anyone know for certain what his eligibility situation is for the 23-24 season. Simply, is this his last season of college hoops or will he have an option for another? I would like this settled based on fact and not hearsay.

Assuming you mean Shannon, not Shiannon, the Loyalty scholarship grid has him as +1 eligibility after this year. Thank you @BMoreIllini as always. What can be more authoritative as a source than that?

TSJ played three years at TxTech. He will play his fourth year at Illinois, and he has the free COVID year as well.

So, yes, he will theoretically have the option of playing two years at Illinois. But there is a reasonable expectation that he is only planning on staying at Illinois for one year. Your guess is as good as mine whether he would consider another transfer, stay in the draft, or explore international options.
