No. Twitter is abject garbage. You’ll get more reasonable takes from the drunk at the end of your local watering hole.Would Bielema seriously consider the job?
I think nebby has to make that call. Not sure he says yes, but I think it could be a grind it out process.Urban Meyer?
Wow. It's going to be huge down the road. If your program is hamstrung because it can't put together a robust NIL program for recruitment, you're not going to land top coaching talent.NIL is for players, not sure how it factors into firing/hiring a coach.
This would be one of the biggest understatements ever put forward on this board.Less pressure to succeed here IMO.
Someone who wants to coach at a place with a rabid fanbase and also make mucho $$$$$.I really thought the Frost hire was great.
I'm not sure who they can find. Is their NIL base that great? My gut tells me that the boosters in Nebraska are a lot more rational than the ones in Alabama, Texas, etc. It was always remarkable that they could do what they did in the middle of nowhere. I think it's tougher and tougher to do that so I'm not sure who signs up for this job.
Urban Meyer?
It appears he will get the full $15M. That's how bad they wanted to get rid of him. Some chance they've negotiated something different.
It's an unimaginably stupid use of $7.5M, especially after buyout avoidance was the only reason he got another year in the first place. It appears he will get the full $15M. That's how bad they wanted to get rid of him.
Nebraska fires Frost; coach to get $15M buyout
Nebraska fired coach Scott Frost on Sunday, a day after the Cornhuskers' 45-42 home loss to Georgia Southern.www.espn.com
He would probably steal this kids speech to do so.Tim Beckmann is available. He could explain corn at BIG meetings.
Maybe Warren Buffett foot the bill. It's an unimaginably stupid use of $7.5M, especially after buyout avoidance was the only reason he got another year in the first place.
Barring a Shirley Maclaine scenario, there's no chance any recruit is going to remember them being a national powerhouse. It's been a looong time.Either the athletic department is paying the reported 7.5M buyout difference, in which case is there nothing better to do with that money other than give it to a coach you don't want anymore? Or, if booster's agreed to pay the buyout difference then that is even worse. Booster money could go to pay for NIL for the next coaches first recruiting class. It makes no sense if it's true the buyout drops Oct. 1
Nebraska had better get the next hire right for their own sake. If they don't, current recruits will never remember a time when Nebraska was good, let alone a national powerhouse.
I'd argue that current recruits don't really see Nebraska as a powerhouse. I suppose if they visit, they get that sense, but most haven't had the experience of seeing Nebraska as a top program.Nebraska had better get the next hire right for their own sake. If their next coach is good, for them, this downturn will just be an anomaly from bad coaching.I'd argue that current recruits don't really see Nebraska as a powerhouse. I suppose if they visit, they get that sense, but most haven't had the experience of seeing Nebraska as a top program.
Here's Nebraska's AP poll data.

An anomaly implies that this was a singular coaching failure. Mike Riley wasn't good. And Pelini wasn't great, which is why he was fired. If their next coach is good, for them, this downturn will just be an anomaly from bad coaching.
If their next coach is bad, it will be a generation of failure.
Seriously. To put it into perspective, we have a conference title more recently than Nebraska. Their last one was in '99. We won in '01.An anomaly implies that this was a singular coaching failure. Mike Riley wasn't good. And Pelini wasn't great, which is why he was fired.
In the last 20 years their highest finish was 14 and only one other time were they better than 20. That's no longer "an anomaly".
