I don't know if my Boiler-hating heart could survive us declining a commit from someone who had already de-committed from Purdue.

What a statement of the progress we've made. Happy Happy Joy Joy
I'm not sure why, but I am feeling sketchy on him....

Yeah, but you have to admit that concluding he doesn’t want to play for Purdue says a lot about his character and personal growth.
When a four star basketball player "backs away" from a successful program this late in the recruiting game, there is more to the story. I'll bet there was a lot more mutuality to the split than is being projected by Dra's side.

Howeva... this coaching staff is not recruiting out of desperation like previous regimes, so if he is welcomed here by Underwood, I'm sure all of the boxes have been checked.

Eyes wide open. Not a Jeremi situation where we ignored the warning signs.

Gibbs-Lawhorn averaged 21 points per game while adding 3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and .9 steals per contest as a freshman at McCutcheon High School in Lafayette. He made 49 percent of his shots overall including 46 percent from three-point range on 136 attempts. As a freshman. Kid is electric.

The talent is obviously there. It's all about fit. I'm confident staff will make the right call.

Everyone was taking Jereme

The staff is in a position to not take anyone they consider “sketchy.” If they are all in on him, there is a good reason and they’ve done their homework. They will not reach.
We’ll it’s like Mark Cuban says. You can probably have one knucklehead… just don’t have two and give them somebody to hangout with.

There will be a day when we take a questionable character fit because the talent is that unquestionable. I don’t know if this will be that player.

Not sure on timing of events, going off memory here…
Thought Jaden Ivey had some negative comments after the season/before draft. Regarding his efficiency/ success but usage was hindered by coach/scheme. Something to this end.
Soon after it seemed decommittment happened. I’ll see what I can find and edit
