Impressive that after 4 games, Illini defense has given up only 2 TDs total (both vs. Indiana) and 3 of 4 opponents haven't managed to score a TD against Illini.

Bigger tests lie ahead, but amazing progress on that side of the ball over the last 12 months! (UVA at Charlottesville last season was the last game I made it to in person.)

Nice article on Jacas.

I liked this tidbit :
Originally in his home state to recruit corner Elijah Mc-Cantos, Henry and Bielema got a tip from Jack Daniels, a local coach who had known Bielema previously and Henry since he was in high school.

I do think MOST coaches have the desire to be a head coach at least once.

I also think a fair number of guys that fail the first time, are then content to be an OC or DC or even just a position coach, as there are so many other non coaching duties and responsibilities that go along with being a HC.

But just as HC salaries for good have escalated , OC & DC salaries for the real good ones will go up quickly as well.
Its a business, and not a game anymore. The guys dont wear a whistle with a heather grey "property of Athletic Dept" sweatshirt anymore, ala Bob Zuppke

I don't know if it will affect his decision, but I gotta think the fact that his defensive coaches and staff are clicking, makes it harder to walk away from. Normal coaching turnover makes it hard to get a staff to gel, but it seems like Walters has a group of low-ego high-achievers, and he might want to see how far that can go while it lasts. I think Josh will pitch him and the whole staff to keep it going for another year, and see what magic happens. You gotta figure careers in coaching has more hard years than fun years, and it just looks like they're having fun, partly because they're being successful.

tOSU looking stronger by the week, otherwise Big10 especially the west is wide open. it's going to be interesting if our Illini stay Healthy! One more note Minnesota is Good and doesn't make mistakes.
Question to my board brothers and sisters. Is the Big10 starting the the top 2 teams in Championship any time soon? I thought I heard that being floated, due to west be so weak.

Right now on ESPN we are favored vs Iowa, Neb, and NW.
Purdue is 58 to 42 to them
Big dogs against Wisk, Minn, Mich and St

State got rolled by Minny. The Illini should go 7-5 if they beat them plus the other 3 favored. 8-4 if we steal one. Exciting times.

Divisions are going away by 2024. I think a championship game depends on how the CFP details play out.
