PJ sure looks like he has his team playing at an extremely high level. They looked really good.
Mich St looked as inept and impotent as us before BB and his staff showed up.
I had never been impressed with Mel (from his tenure with the Bears) and am thinking last year was just an anomaly. We wont know for sure for another year or two.

I'd probably vote to scrap it.......since both teams would theoretically be playing in the multi-team, multi-game CFP. Would be wise to stay healthy and avoid an "unnecessary" and semi-meaningless game.
I think the plan is that the champion would get an automatic bye in the playoff.

You see this happen time and time again....someone has a great year out of the blue, he/she gets paid an exorbitant amount of $ based on that one data point, then he/she reverts back to normal. I'd be shocked if Tucker doesn't fit that mold. Outside of last year, there is nothing in his background that suggests he is better than an average coach, probably below average. The one thing that gives me pause here is that he is killing it on the recruiting trail; all in all though, his career screams "Ron Zook!"

So you would eliminate divisions? The game would have meaning if it determined the conference champion.

Music City Bowl

Projected matchup
: Illinois vs. Florida

Florida is 2-2 after the first month of the season following Saturday's loss at Tennessee, but the good news for the Gators is quarterback Anthony Richardson found his stride as a passer after a career-day inside Neyland Stadium. Richardson surpassed 400 yards for the first time in his career, a great sign moving forward. Illinois is 4-0 under Bret Bielema and has matched Minnesota's impressive start in the Big Ten West this fall.

SP+ changes over the past two weeks:

Minnesota 20 --> 16 --> 7
Wisconsin 21 --> 15 --> 29
Iowa 39 --> 31 --> 27
Illinois 63 --> 63 --> 47
Nebraska 51 --> 68 --> 69
Northwestern 89 --> 99 --> 98

(1) Minnesota is really freaking good, (2) Northwestern actually improved in SP+ losing at home to a MAC team, (3) you can squint and say Illinois is in a battle for second-best team in the West

Don't fall too in love with the advanced stats, because they say our likeliest outcome is 5-7 with a ton of close losses again.

That would suck. A lot. But the good news is that positive or negative, the road from this point in the season is always weirder than it looks from this vantage point.

Interesting.

FEI and SP+ have us in the exact same spot (47th), but FEI being lower on Michigan State, while higher on Iowa and Wisconsin jumbles our outcomes right around 6 wins there.

SP+ has Wisconsin, Iowa, Purdue and Michigan State all in the same range annoyingly above us. We've gotta have at least one of those.

Advanced stats are also going nuts for Minny at the moment. We'll see.
