I wanted 2 things out of this game

1. A win
2. No major injuries (looks that way so far barring reports)

Gotta say I’m pretty happy about it! Boys played well and a shutout is impressive no matter who it’s against.

Big ten play is where I think we will learn a lot more about this offense. Basically will need them to score 20+ pts against much higher defensive competition than what we’ve faced. Though it may not look all as smooth as last night, I believe Lunney, TD and the gang have capacity to get it done!

Amazing, wonderful and amazing, but, but can she punt? What kind of hang time and distance does she get? If it is even close to 42 yds, 5.0, she is the most perfect Illini!

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — When Pat Bryant came off the field after his game against Chattanooga, athletic director Josh Whitman came over to compliment him on his breakout game.
Bryant had 112 yards on six catches and with Isaiah Williams formed a receiver duo that lifted the team’s passing attack to its best game of the season.
Chase Brown had another game of over 100 yards rushing, but with that becoming an impressive standard, the surprise was in Bryant’s breakout game and Williams’ breakthrough.

Bryant finished with a career high and his first 100-yard game after having just 245 career yards coming into the game. He cemented himself as the team’s vertical threat.
“I just go out there and let my abilities do their thing,” Bryant said. “I was just focused on the game and focused on scoring touchdowns.”

Illinois has thrown 11 passes for over 20 yards this season and Bryant has caught six of them. He’s stretched the defense and has found his niche the past two weeks.

I hope the page explodes today with positive responses to this game. It seems to me though that people love to post more when its negative. If we would have lost like we have in the past we would probably have 10 pages of complaints and heads on the chopping block! But we win 31-0 and only 3 pages! WTH loyalty! Lets go! It better be because most of us were too happy last night! Thats my excuse.
Kinda hard to be negative about that win, but I'll check for Gritty posts just in case. ;) Seriously though, very solid defense, much improved offense with smart play calling, and a sputtering special teams? Progress. And our staff has generally pushed the team to improve each week. Everything is moving in the right direction when a few other teams are moving in the wrong direction. I'll take it! And I think the staff will continue to push for improvement. Here's to our student athletes staying healthy.

For Coords, really the only thing you can do is make the choice difficult for him. They’re all there to burnish their reputations so that they can move up to the next rung of the ladder.

You make it so Walters doesn’t leave for another P5 DC job or a really bad G5 HC job. But if that plum G5 job comes along, he’s gone. You just wish him good luck.
Brad Underwood showed his true CEO skills by managing a complete staff turnover and coming out better on the other side.

Walters is flipping unreal and I want him to stay for years to come, but BB will steer the ship true. He course corrected from the TP experiment immediately and has otherwise hit on staff picks esp given where the program was when he took over.

It's another aspect I've been impressed with and am hopeful will help stabilize the program (esp if he can sell KW getting a legit HC job and having the team in a better place, all of a sudden UofI doesn't look like such a bad program to join)

Perfect points and Bielema has a lot of connections to other top coaches/coodinators that he can lean on if Walters does get the opportunity he deserves. I want him here as long as we can keep him and it is also great to have him as a future choice post Bielema. This staff is awesome.

I always preface my comments with I don’t know football, but I almost wish we opened up both playbooks all the way to overload Wisconsin’s prep to make them pick and choose what they want to prep for.
Definitely saw some gadget and exotic offensive plays to make Wisconsin D have to prepare for more.

We played fairly vanilla on the defensive side though.

Our defense is vanilla. It's super straightforward and I've heard the broadcasters on B1G say "it lets Illinois play fast" about 100 times. The thing is... we change our looks and hide the coverage pretty well. In the end Walters just puts our athletes on an island a lot and says "come and find out." I don't hate it.

Bonus, Bielema’s daughters are still too young to be considered for a coaching/coordinator role. Though they are probably more qualified than Lovie’s son.

Kicking game will cost us 1 and maybe 2 games. It's terrifying!

Walters makes 1 million dollars folks. He isn't going anywhere, but larger school who forks out 2 million. No sub power5 conference is paying him what he wants.

Just want to say a huge, "Thank You" to the people who respond to my presumably stupid questions. I don't have the ability to watch the games. So I only read about them after the fact. Been an Illini fan since 1958 and this is killing me. So thanks again. Really, really!
You should be able to stream the games now. You might have to pay for it, or if you have Hulu or one of the other online TV services, it might be included. Someone here should be a wizard at it.

When I cant watch I stream the audio that is posted here on the game thread every game. Nothing beats Barnhart and O'Donnell. Even listen while im watching if im somewhere I have control of the DVR.

I want to listen to the guys but I’m too much a klutz to sync them with the video.
I am too that way but I promise its not as hard as it seems. Both of them pause so you will get it eventually. I usually let the tv get out in front then pause when they hike the ball. Barnhart usually calls the snap so you unpause video then. If you mess up then pause the audio for just a second at a time until they are close. Doesnt have to be perfect.

Thank you. So far all the streaming services I've checked have said not available in your area. But I'll check again. Thanks!

My cable doesn’t have BTN, but we have Hulu and we can get BTN on that. And I have the BTN+ app on my phone and can cast that to my tv.
