To my knowledge, he's lived more than 80% of his life, and had most of his athletic and professional success in the upper Midwest area of iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. I would guess that he can handle the winters. It also means he's familiar with the people, contacts, and recruiting grounds.
Here's hoping he continues to keep the Illini on an upward trajectory. If a blue blood comes calling, that has to be tempting for any coach. I don't think he's quite there, but would love to have him in that conversation after continued program success.
But that's how it works. You want your coaches to be in demand, because that means your team and program are exciting and winning. And hopefully that helps you pull in another great coach to replace them, and keep the momentum going.
