Methinks the reason DD is getting more tick of critics regarding his FT shooting is that Rogers and Harris, though strong parts of the team and future, are not seen by most as critical to the success of this year's team. Both are on the same level and can be fixed rather easily if someone were to work with them an hour a day for a week or so. But Dainja has the depth of skills and IQ to make an All-B1G contribution to this team THIS YEAR. He has rare skills for a big already but BU cannot risk him in crunch time as he will be fouled every time down the floor before anyone gets a shot off....resulting in a turnover. Sure Rogers and Harris are just as clueless from the line, but they are invaluable parts of the team because of their speed and quickness....ON DEFENSE. Neither will be needed to score especially in crunchtime....but they can get a few points just by being smart. DD, OTOH, needs to make teams pay for fouling. Yet, in his defense, he has been quick enough, and skillful enough to score without getting hacked like Kofi....so far. But, it may be time to get ready...it's coming!!

You’re confusing DJ, a terrible ref, with another terrible bald ref. Something like Kofi only fouling out of 5 games and this other guy did all the games. He did the Ohio St and Purdue games here last year.

Man, that spring following the Loyola loss was so rough at the time. But in hindsight, it has kind of turned into a defining moment for BU. Lost virtually his entire coaching staff, a first team All American, and one of the program's highest rated recruits in recent memory and he just reloads and wins a B1G championship and now here we are ranked in the top 20 again with an entirely new roster. Brad Underwood uh, finds a way.

And a follow up question: if he can play second semester, would he start at the end of the first semester or have to wait until the second semester begins. I don't know the student academic schedule anymore but when I was there, there was a big gap, almost a month, between 1st and 2nd semester (if I am remembering correctly). Seems like Kipper started playing with the team in mid or late December rather than in January when the 2nd semester actually started.

You are certainly right about that one. Mick Cronin at UCLA is redshirting two of his top freshmen this season, but he is the clear exception to the rule.

Recently announced that one of their freshman (4*, top 100) plans to redshirt, continuing Virginia's history of redshirting more than most (5 players on their 2019 national champs redshirted as freshmen). Always been a strategy at Wisconsin also with their big men. This year no bigs but two guards being redshirted.

Kipper transferred in a year before he played. He was enrolled spring of the previous year, but couldn’t play until the end of his second semester of sitting out.
The B1G is rated as the toughest conference on Torvik, with the Big 12 very close behind.
The "down year" talk was more centered around not having many elite teams. Preseason, us and IU were the only teams with top 3 seed potential. And that's just potential. Realistically, the conference might not have any top 3 seeds this year.
But overall, the conference is actually rated tougher on Torvik than last year. Other than Minnesota, every team towards the bottom is rated significantly higher this year (NW, PSU, Nebby, Rutgers, Maryland). We are close to having 10 top 50 teams (tOSU at 53), and currently only 1 team outside the top 100.
Not sure that a comparison as he was a transfer (with a sit out year mandated) and Perrin would just be enrolling. Who was the recruit that went to UCLA? Seems like he might have played 2nd semester.
