11/14 Weekday Games

I may be dumber than a rock, but I am pretty certain there is a mute button on my computer, tv, AND phone. Maybe you are listening on an old fashion radio, but otherwise if you are tuned in on a new technology no one knows about yet, I can't help you. My apologies since as much as i would like to help another Illini fan, I am just not capable.
I certainly could be wrong but I took the mute suggestion as being able to just mute Vitale and still be able to listen to the game background noise (cheering etc.) and other announcers. And actually that might be kind of cool. There are other announcers I would like to mute but still listen to the game and other announcers.

After last night and an early game today from Penn State, the Big Ten improves to 39-2 (.951) and takes a 5-1 lead vs. the Big East in the Gavitt Tipoff Games. It looks like we have the following left in that very underwhelming series:

Nebraska at St. John's (SJU favored by 9.5)
Temple at Rutgers (RU presumably favored)
#12 Indiana at Xavier (no idea what to expect here)
Villanova at Michigan State (MSU presumably favored)

I'm guessing every Big Ten team wins above except for Nebraska, making the final result 8-2 in favor of the Big Ten. Even with a Nebraska loss tonight, I expect the Big Ten to enter Friday morning with an overall record of 41-3 (.932) before our Illini try to make some real noise in Vegas!

EIU did keep it close for a half but Ohio State pulled away in the 2nd half and cruised to an easy win. As much as I like EIU, I thought the praise for the Panthers late in the game was a bit much. That's not to say that they can't be good, especially in an OVC that's going to look completely different now with Murray State and Belmont no longer in the conference. But they're going to have to lean on players like Hodges and Rose and if those two struggle then it could be another long season.

They likely will get their first win of the season Monday as they take on Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, an NAIA school out of Terre Haute. It is one of the cooler games of the year though as it is their annual Kid's Day game, where local elementary and junior high school kids get to spend part of their school day going to the game.

They'll face actual D-I competition again next weekend when they play in an MTE at Ohio U next Friday and Saturday against the Bobcats and Alabama State.

I'm excited for the Nebraska St John's game tonight. Both teams play fast so it should be a track meet, and I haven't seen Belo play yet this year.

Michigan has a somewhat tough matchup against a good defensive team, ASU.

I expect Michigan to roll given that it's on a neutral court and they are probably still "feeling it" in the same gym. However, I too am very interested in the UNL/SJU game. I obviously want to see Belo do well (I thought I saw that he is having a good year so far!), but I am also curious about the matchup. St. John's seems to almost always look kind of "exciting" at one point but pretty much fold whenever they face any real competition ... does Nebraska count?? Also a question I would like to see the answer to, as we play Nebby twice and Hoiberg is likely coaching for his job.

Neb-StJ was close but not any longer. I can’t believe how bad Neb is. Also noticed that Belo is wearing tinted glasses. Wonder if he has light sensitivity issues still.

Regardless of how one feels about Belo, when he is good he is really good. Not too shy to say I miss his antics. I know, I know, the bad Belo was just infuriating. Still, there are some great moments to remember.
The bad Belo was mostly last season when he was in a fog. It was obvious he never fully recovered from the concussion.

The FR year, fully healthy Belo was really good.

That said, I like our current PG, Clark. And I like Epps too, though he really is more of a "combo guard."

Watched AJ Storr earlier and now watching Reggie Bass. Not only able to follow those who transferred but those who never made it far enough to transfer.

Got pretty loud Senior Night last year. Most exhilarating sporting event I have attended in years.
Agree with both sentences. Maybe it's just the nostalgia talking but circa 2005, when it was just rows and rows of people shoulder to shoulder all the way to the ceiling seemed louder to me.

But the Iowa game last year is one my favorite sporting events I've ever attended.
