Whew! Back to playing real games!

Unfortunately the time sucks for people out west who have small kids.

If this was a tourney game, I could see him saying something like “let’s go show them how much the BIG sucks” in the locker room right before the game, but even then I just don’t see him using it as a rallying cry the days leading up to it. I’m sure the players have heard the quote. That’s probably enough.

Given how much emphasis BU puts on winning a national championship, I wouldn’t be surprised if he in some ways agrees with the statement — not that conference sucks but it and Illini under performed. Not that he would say that publicly. It’s not like Jimmy directed the statement at the Illini specifically or denigrated the accomplishment of winning the conference title. I’ve never heard BU state as a goal getting the most conference teams in the tourney. I haven’t seen the question asked Jimmy that led to his outburst, but I’m guessing it had something to do with the ACC being down last year because they only got 5 or 6 teams in while BIG got 9. Jimmy was just pushing back in his cantankerous way. If the circumstances were reversed and Brad was asked similar question at BIG media day about conference being down the year before, I bet BU would defend his conference too — though not by saying ACC sucks. That’s not his style.

Wonder why the Illini got matched with such a weak team as 'cuse in the B10-ACC challenge.
Well, there are 3 strong teams in the ACC (Virginia, Duke, UNC), and 8 strong teams in the B1G (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Purdue, MSU, Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan), so it's hard to find fair matchups this season. Virginia gets Michigan, Duke gets Ohio State, and UNC gets Indiana.

The 4th best team in the ACC, Virginia Tech, gets....Minnesota, so swing and a miss there. Hard to see any other ACC teams getting a serious look at the NCAA tournament this season.

Did Boeheim say anything else besides "the Big Ten sucked in last years tournament?

I disagree with his assertion after that statement that it meant that the ACC was better.

I'm just trying to understand what is causing so much anger towards him. He seems at least half correct to me.

He’s right, but his saying is going to rub some people the wrong way.

The anger is because he's generally just a smug, unlikable guy. And fans like reasons to vilify their team's opponents.

But, his statement wasn't, "The big ten had a bad showing last year." It was "(The Big Ten) sucked in the tournament...If you can't play in the tournament then you're not good."

Pretty arrogant to try to diminish an entire league like that.

i mean, in a just world is there any way Mintz doesnt get at least a 1 game ban? not saying i want that, i was this team to run Syracuse's best players into the ground so JB doesnt have any excuses to fall back to in the aftermath.
