Big rumors that Brohm is going home to Louisville
Is this good or bad for us? My sense is Purdue fans appreciate what Brohm has done but feel he is not the guy to take them to the next level. I suppose it all depends on who they replace him with, but my guess is Purdue will spend money and get a formidable replacement.

Purdue football record the 2 seasons before Brohm took over:

2-10 and 3-9.

Purdue football record the past 2 seasons with Brohm at the helm:

9-4 and 8-5 (with a bowl game still to be played).

If true, I imagine they’ll take a step back.

Whether or not he could have taken Purdue to the next level, he was still a roadblock for us to jump to our ultimate desired position in the B1G pecking order. I have to feel Bielema has us in a position to leap them in the short term while they go through this transition. Idk, maybe they will strike gold with this hire, but I think it's probably more likely that this hire does no better than Brohm, with a fair shot he won't be as good as Brohm. Therefore, I am happy with this news.

The statement and timing from Leonhard makes me think it's even more likely he's going to the Packers.
How does this infer anything related to the Packers? He had to make a decision now on his future at UW so Fickell can finalize his staff and it has an impact on UW players staying or entering the portal.

He could go to the NFL. But he could just as easily take a big paying SEC defensive coordinator role.

try selling that to the fanbase

“ our new coach is the guy who wasn’t good enough for one of our rivals . but we got him at a good price “
I think it would be an easy sell - and I am connected to lots of hard core Purdue fans. What would be a hard sell would be another mid-major coach like Hazell and Hope.

Bill OBrien would be a decent coach for Purdue

that would be a home run hire for them

-They tried to hire him last year and in his own words he almost took the job.
-If he wanted to be a college free agent to the highest bidder, he'd do it now as staff changes are happening.
-The Packers season is going to end a week after the bowl game and they're going to need a fall guy.
-He's kinda demonstrated that he loves the state of Wisconsin more than anyone has ever loved anything.

I got my crystal ball out and predict this for Purdue's message board later today ...
The Big Ten has a dump truck backing up with money from the TV deal so they don't have to settle. Their first string will look like this:

Mike Dikta - even at 83 he is still Iron Mike and the greatest coach ever. He should be number one on everyone's list.
Nick Saban - Purdue can afford to give him a $10 million a year raise, plus mama needs a new airplane.
Urban Meyer - He will claim it's to win another National Championship at his third school.

If they tell them 'no' then Purdue will settle for Kirby Smart.

Interesting that Brohm is leaving Purdue as O'Connell leaves as QB. In his 6 years at Purdue Brohm never once had a starting QB that he recruited.

Do you also think it would be a bad move for Stanford (or another poorly performing Pac12 school) to not hire Walters because Colorado passed on him?
