Would think academic and NIL constraints will be easier at Louisville ...

lol that is so refreshing and noble of Purdue to refrain from engaging in those pesky NIL shenanigans but they have absolutely no problem spending nearly $50 million dollars on renovations to an almost 100 year old crappy football stadium this year. 🤣

Purdue Athletics has released construction plans, renderings and timelines for a $45 million makeover of Ross-Ade Stadium. The first phase of the renovation will begin following the completion of this season and should be finished before the 2023 season.

One of the biggest changes will be enclosing the nearly 100-year-old stadium on the south end to create a bowl. The end zone addition will become the dedicated student section for the “Ross-Ade Brigade” and seating for Purdue’s marching band.

The changes will also create 4,500 additional seats and an expansive concourse.

“The additions and renovations to Ross-Ade Stadium will enhance the student-athlete experience on and off the field,” said Purdue Football Head Coach Jeff Brohm. “The south end zone bowl will create an exciting atmosphere that will extend throughout the stadium.”

🤣 the renovations were so incredible it made Jeff Brohm so overwhelmed that he felt he wasn't worthy of such an awe inspiring football atmosphere so he quit his job and is going back to Louisville.

At least their annoying dorky marching band will have the ultimate enhanced student-athlete experience on and off the field moving forward.

Gene Keady :ROFLMAO:

Keady and Underwood both have those menacing looks during the game but some of the nicest coaches I have ever chatted with
I've never met either, but it is funny how often times the "meanest" looking ones are actually the most genuine and nicest at heart, while the "nice guy in public" coach is often a slime-ball.

I can say Lon Kruger and Mike White are genuinely good people

I use to attend Prairie State games and other summer league stuff throughout Illinois back in the day when I was younger with some family. In my 40s now, but first time I met Gene Keady was him watching Glenn Robinson play in summer league and was committed to attend Purdue. Big Dog probably had a monster day cause I saw Keady smile and get chatty with other coaches/Big Ten coaches (Lou Henson was always gracious with his time).

And Macovic was a real jerk according to players I've talked to. All crisp and cool when interviewed, but awful with how he treated players and other hirlings.

I had exactly one interaction with Mackovic -- was coaching a seventh-grade basketball team that played against his son's team. I walked over and asked him if he was there to watch his kid and he said (in a not particularly nice way) "I'm not here for the entertainment, am I?"

I suppose I'm not famous so I don't know what that's all like but being a jackass to strangers is a choice, and not one you necessarily have to make.

Phil Longo leaving UNC for WIscy OC. Bringing Bucknell, his OL coach with him. Makes sense now that Bostat left so quickly.

I knew some guys that played for him at Arizona when they "rebelled" against mackovic. Confirmed jackass. There is a difference between being mean and a hard-!!! to push players to achieve and being just a pr**k.

That is a MASSIVE departure from the kind of football we're used to that program playing.

Really good coach and a big get for Wisky, but man, that is going to be quite a transition.

Wisconsin: 112th in tempo, 22nd in percent rush
UNC: 13th in tempo, 96th in percent rush

Geez. I hope we do better than that when we remodel the south end zone.

There was a reporter on DWS earlier in the week who alluded to some intense drama "over Christmas 2018 in the Brohm household" over this. Of course my interest is piqued!

Yeah, just when we’re building a Wisconsin-like team, Wisky decides to go air raid. I’m hearing there was some conflict between Longo and the defense coaching staff. It’ll be interesting to see how Wisky’s defense trends.

Not sure if my memory is correct, but I'm thinking that Longo was fired as the OC at SIU some years ago.

If I’m keeping track right, the open FBS HC jobs are:

Stanford, Purdue, North Texas and Kent State.

North Texas would be an ok first HC job for Walters. Nice location, decent facilities, moving up to the American Conference. Walters was the CB coach there in 2013. So he knows the institution and the recruiting ground. Despite firing their coach, N Texas went above .500 and played in their conference championship game. So it’s not a complete rebuild.

That said, I’ve seen no smoke connecting Walters to the position and they seem focused on hiring a P5 re-tread, with Justin Fuentes supposedly the lead candidate.

Assuming N Texas goes another way, I don’t see Walters leaving for any other gig. I think he’ll hold out for something better than a MAC gig and won’t be considered for another P5 job. Unless some other job in the “Goldilocks” zone opens up, we get him for another year.

If Stanford brings in a MWC HC, that could be one of those “just right” position for Walters, especially considering his West Coast background.
