Normally there is an understanding that the coach leaving only gets 1 or 2 guys. When coaches leave Saban they are only allowed to take 1 guy from the current staff with them.
I was just about to ask if there is an "unwritten" rule about raiding a staff. Is there a "written" rule sometimes?

Wonder if Josh Conklin ends up on the defensive staff. Probably was considered by Bielema for his initial staff. Was Wofford's head coach recently and previously was DC at Pitt.

That would close the circle. Wisconsin-Cincinnatti- Louisville-Purdue-Illinois-Wisconsin.

Ugh, this isn't good. I understand it, I'm happy for Walters, and agree it's a natural result of a good football program. Better to be losing coordinators to promotions than to be firing them for underperformance.

But ... I liked Walters, and no, we won't be able to plug the "next guy up" in there and expect similar results. We're either going to have to land a really great DC, or we're going to take a step back on that side of the ball. He's the best coordinator we've had in here for a long, long time.
I think we have a succession plan in place, no?

I’m fine with it being Kane, but we really need to nail the replacement hires for it to be a good coaching replacement off-season.

Seems like they really want JaMarcus Shepard from what I've read.

Though I think they wanted him as HC mostly.... doubt he would give up his AHC gig at Washington to be a OC for someone younger than him.
