Sorry, the Krush are still a non-profit that would qualify for the same discount IF Iowa wouldn't be cowards. You know damn well they would of outright denied the tickets had it had their name on it.
They could have made something up or have created a shadow organization rather than lying about being the B&G club.

“All the time” is a bit extreme, but you hear stories about it pretty regularly. So it’s certainly not “uncommon”.
I've never heard of this before. Certainly not for a group. Obviously cancelling the tickets for an obnoxious fan, but this is unprecedented. The next statement from Iowa changes things a bit of course.

My understanding after some digging is that this is actually pretty common amongst student orgs going on road trips so they can buy tickets. The orange krush is a non-profit organization so the rate would apply, but for the fact that Iowa wouldn’t likely sell to them if they knew they were supporters of the athletic org. Iowa likely did this pretextually upon learning Orange Krush was coming, but are now acting like Orange Krush committed “fraud” to win the pr battle. So krush is getting “krushed” in media, but partially for their own fault but Iowa is still behaving in a petty fashion by denying the tickets so close to the date and causing the kids to be out the cost of the bus. And their moral outrage in acting like the boys and girls club was in some way being harmed is likely nonsense

The discounted rate the Krush got was apparently for being a group larger than 20.

A standard group rate.

Not because of their claim of being part of the Boys and Girls Club of Illinois.

Bad on Krush for picking a name too similar to an actual organization. One where the Iowa AD could call and verify and start this whole smear campaign.

Very bad on Iowa for spinning it in a way that makes it look like Krush committed fraud.

Krush could have called themselves the Inbred Idiots of Iowa and as long as there were more than 20 of them (and Iowa approved the sale), they would have gotten the rate and tickets.

Jesus, I'm gonna have to watch the whole game on mute now.

Can we just play basketball?

Yeah, Krush messed up and gave Iowa the pretextual ammo to kick them out this close to the game and look like the "good guys standing up for justice" to the mindless masses just looking for whom they should be outraged at. Iowa AD is still being petty here and likely smiling with glee knowing college kids are out the cost of a charter bus. This was some 21 year goofing up and not using a fake name and instead using a real charitable organization, not Illini students being crooks and scamming a charity to score some cheaper tickets.

Couple of things here
1. The Krush posed as a fictional organization since there is no such thing as the Illinois Chapter of the Boys and Girls Club.
2. Student organizations do this across the country so why is it a big deal this time.
3. The Krush is a 501C3 and therefore a charity in and of itself and would get whatever discount is claimed. The point is they tricked Iowa into selling it to them because otherwise they would not have sold the Krush the tickets directly.
4. To Iowa, why right now? What happened in this moment that made you realize who this block of tickets was sold to? That is not coincidence.

The Krush did NOT receive a discount for being a non profit. They received a bulk order discount. Iowa is just phrasing this in a way for you to think they receive a non profit discount. The more we repeat that, the more we feed into their narrative

Incredibly smarmy by the Iowa AD. Trying to stick it to those pesky college kids.

From Iowa's own website - https://hawkeyesports.com/grouptickets/

Iowa Athletics offers discounted tickets to all groups for select home athletic events. Whether you’re bringing clients, youth groups, or friends, we would love to see you cheering on the Hawks! This website lists some of our biggest group events, but we have many ways to customize your ticket package to fit your needs!

If an Iowa fan tries to bring up Krush committing "fraud" to get "the discount", show them that language. The Iowa tweet that makes sure to use the word "discounted"... and then later saying they "falsely" ordered the tickets "under the non-profit organization" is being intentionally manipulative there as a way to present it as "Illini fans lied about being part of a great charity to get a discount, and because of that, we had to do the morally imperative thing and cancel", and yet, you'll note that they didn't say anything that was in fact NOT FACTUAL. They just do everything they can to give off the appearance that these Illini fans are a bunch of crooks without ever OUTRIGHT stating that.

Unfortunately it's a bunch of college kids going up against a big, giant organization that has their own PR team and lawyers. From Iowa's perspective, they probably think "fair play, you came @ us first by going public with the ticket cancellations". I dunno if Iowa would have cancelled had Krush used a more innocuous sounding name since they wouldn't have this PR ace up their sleeve. Maybe it's possible they might not have gotten through to begin with if it wasn't a plausibly sounding charity (Boys & Girls Club exists, as other have pointed out there is no such organization called the "Illinois Chapter"). Did Iowa "discover" this "false" order just now when it cause the greatest level of difficulty for the organization? Dunno, I guess you can decide their motives for yourself.

So if the busses aren't being refunded, why don't the Krush students still go up there and see if they can buy individual tickets. At the very least, they could take over an Iowa bar.
This. Better yet, stand outside Carver and let them feel you from the public sidewalk. That'd be a hell of a sight in the media

some rich alum(s) has to step in here and just buy a bunch of tickets for the Krush and call iowa's bluff. and then match the money spent and donate to the B&C club of cedar rapids. even if it's not in a block, just buy them. JW, make some calls!
