Great comeback but bad decision making and shot selection in final stretch. Off balance threes were not what we needed when it was still 1-2 possession game with clock remaining. Shannon was fouled and Zach Edey should have received a technical - he pushed Mayer to the ground.

Played great and back to hero ball again. Sorry, we could have won that game.
Did you watch that first half? We played great for 20 minutes. The first 20 was our worst effort since Missouri. This focus on the last two minutes needs the be erased. We created a situation that we literally needed a miracle. Then, when a miracle doesn't happen we're going to focus on individual guys? This TEAM got down 24, this TEAM erased 24....then fell short. After what I saw in the first half, I'm damn proud of our guys for not mailing it in.

Refs weren’t the issue. All in all a very good game, ESPECIALLY for Big10 refs!

We screwed up in the first, obviously. But my lands, what a flagrant. And those can change momentum in a game (as we well know).

I’ll repeat: These guys didn’t give up. Whatever Underwood said at half-time, bottle it up, and sell it. I wanted them to be rewarded for their perseverance and grit, but it wasn’t meant to be today. I think we beat them if we get them a third time in the BTT with a pro Illini crowd…
The optimist in me wants to believe we take our lessons from all the close road losses this year and go on a heater the rest of the month

How was his foul on Mayer not flagrant…he made no attempt on the ball!?!
He was faked out and couldn't really do anything on the way down aslt that point. It started with him making a basketball play. It was a hard foul. It didn't need to be flagrant.

I'm proud of the response and character this team showed after such a dismal effort, and lack of focus, in the first half of this game. I'm glad that they fought and didn't fold! This gives the team something to grow off of, and learn from. Kudos to Coach Brad Underwood for the awesome coaching to get this team back in the game, and give us a chance to win. Ultimately, bad decisions cost us in the end and hopefully that will be learned from so that it doesn't cost us in the tourney. This was a tough loss to endure but I feel hopeful that this group of young men will put it together and get hyper focused knowing that now it's win or go home! Get rested up as much as possible and get ready to go all out for March madness and conference tourney.

Edey's a junior this year. What do we think: does he stay or is he cutting out to try to make more money? Feels like a Kofi situation where he could make bank as a senior, but I'm not sure he'll develop more than he has

Volatile...

I hate and love this team...Mayer and Shannon are either making tough shots or fumbling the ball out of bounds or airballing a bad 3 point attempt.

Mayer is so good at times, he is such a good ballhandler for his size...but his shot selection is nauseating. Shannon is the opposite, a terrible ballhandler who defers too much.

Dain was so bad for much of that game and his lackadaisical style is becoming a problem... we need him to be fully engaged.
