Played great and back to hero ball again. Sorry, we could have won that game.

Pull within four we have four straight possessions without scoring a point while holding them scoreless was a key down the stretch

Yep, I believe Purdue missed the front end of a 1-1 twice and we didn't score on the other end either time. Those are really tough when trying to come back.

I’ll repeat: These guys didn’t give up. Whatever Underwood said at half-time, bottle it up, and sell it. I wanted them to be rewarded for their perseverance and grit, but it wasn’t meant to be today. I think we beat them if we get them a third time in the BTT with a pro Illini crowd…

But all jokes aside… love what we’ve been getting out of Ty, Harris, Luke, RJ, and absolute hats off yet again to Coleman Hawkins who has to be gassed after going to-to-toe with Dickinson and now Edey. Need the rest of the team to play with the same urgency, energy and toughness. I’m looking at the seniors. On to the post-season

I feel like we were a pack of dogs turning on ourselves at the end with two alphas (MM and TSJ) both trying to do too much to be the hero with 30 seconds left in the game. Happy we made it respectable but I think it was self destruction in the end that gave this game away. We put two halves together we win this one comfortably.

Rough loss because that was a super winnable, seeding-changing game.

If we had won this, we could have probably lost even our first in the BTT and still gotten a 7-seed…

I'm going with "least consistent great team in the NCAA" for us rather than the opposite. Just mind blowing. Maybe we can finally put it together for the NCAA tourney. Stranger things have happened.
I really want to see what happens when we get away from Big Ten style officiating. It seems like other leagues don't just let them play. I'm interested to see how we handle that kind of change

This game is another prime exhibit of this team's MO all year. The lack of mental preparation to start and finish games is really frustrating. The difference in effort level between first and second halves is unacceptable, and has been the source of most losses. Great fight, but it shouldn't have to always come down to that. They are good, but not good enough to overcome the mind-numbing play during stretches in the first half. Just 30 minutes of play like they exhibited in the second half makes all of the poor calls and lack of end of game execution moot. And I would argue it makes the execution part easier because you have not just expended all your energy cutting a 20 point lead to get back in the freakin game. Frustrating, but entertaining at least I guess 🤷‍♂️
