I can’t get over that lazy a$$ start. It’s truly disgusting.
Hope Mayer is ok and Harris .A bit of home cooking at the end....
Almost made it all the way back
FWIW, Deon Thomas agreed with this in the radio postgame…
It wasn’t that he fell on him, it’s that as he was falling he put both hands on Mayer and shoved him forcefully into the floorThe one where Mayer faked him, Edey jumped in the air, and then fell on Mayer? How can that be a flagrant?
He literally won a national championship.Matthew Mayer does a lot of good things, but I'm not sure he is a winning player. We have seen him take bad shot after bad shot in critical situations, and they very rarely go in. At times, it still doesn't feel like this team is all pulling on the same rope.
Two hands to the chest. How was his foul on Mayer not flagrant…he made no attempt on the ball!?!
What makes me feel better about this is the fact that he's a redshirt freshman. There's time to clean it upI'm curious to know the +- for Dainja. I'm concerned I see a correlation with these early deficits and his mishaps.

In a supporting role. That's not the role he is playing on this team.He literally won a national championship.
Did you watch that first half? We played great for 20 minutes. The first 20 was our worst effort since Missouri. This focus on the last two minutes needs the be erased. We created a situation that we literally needed a miracle. Then, when a miracle doesn't happen we're going to focus on individual guys? This TEAM got down 24, this TEAM erased 24....then fell short. After what I saw in the first half, I'm damn proud of our guys for not mailing it in.Played great and back to hero ball again. Sorry, we could have won that game.
We screwed up in the first, obviously. But my lands, what a flagrant. And those can change momentum in a game (as we well know).Refs weren’t the issue. All in all a very good game, ESPECIALLY for Big10 refs!
The optimist in me wants to believe we take our lessons from all the close road losses this year and go on a heater the rest of the monthI’ll repeat: These guys didn’t give up. Whatever Underwood said at half-time, bottle it up, and sell it. I wanted them to be rewarded for their perseverance and grit, but it wasn’t meant to be today. I think we beat them if we get them a third time in the BTT with a pro Illini crowd…
He was faked out and couldn't really do anything on the way down aslt that point. It started with him making a basketball play. It was a hard foul. It didn't need to be flagrant. How was his foul on Mayer not flagrant…he made no attempt on the ball!?!
Flagrant. It was intentional.Great comeback but bad decision making and shot selection in final stretch. Off balance threes were not what we needed when it was still 1-2 possession game with clock remaining. Shannon was fouled and Zach Edey should have received a technical - he pushed Mayer to the ground.
