Disappointed with the season. I wish we would have played better team basketball, especially on the offensive end. However, I won't miss hearing the terms "Built for March" and the term "Elite" again this year. Anyone with a rational view and a student of the game knew the season was lost in late December and early January. We never played as a team consistently.

How many of our boys in the portal by April? Frustrating end to a frustrating season. Rinse, spit and repeat once again today. Was winnable, we just were not a good team entire last half of year.

Day late and a buck short. Would've been nice to see how this might have ended had our 'leaders' not chosen to take a couple of minutes off there in the middle of the second half.

I absolutely think that Underwood is still the guy for this job and most of the complaints that will be lodged against him in this thread will be bogus, but maybe bending over backwards for Mayer wasn't a good idea? I get why he did it, but it's been looking like a worse and worse decision every game down the stretch.

It's not a very fannish thing to say, but I'm so glad I don't have to watch this team anymore.

I've seen worse Illini teams, but never even remotely close to as frustrating as this team was.
I'm extremely fannish but this team was brutal. I've liked NIT teams more than this bunch. Arkansas was extremely beatable but we play with the IQ of a small fry team. As far as I'm concerned, give me rj, Goode, Epps, Harris and Rodgers and go from there.

The excuses (transfer portal) all brads hyperbole (elite everything). End of the day it’s all not good enough. His program his staff and his roster. Can’t get it done when it matters most. Never been to a 2nd weekend as a coach and the performances in the tournament have been awful. Story of our lives.

I kid. But disappointing end to a rollercoaster season.

I'm not surprised that we lost, but I'm somewhat surprised how we lost to a team that looked like an NIT squad at best. Arkansas was bad. We were worse. That was an embarrassing performance, especially by the upperclassmen. Hopefully the freshmen and RJ stick around and we can assemble a more cohesive team for next year and beyond.

Such a disappointment this season after such hope at the beginning of the season.

Definitely need to reset. Change to the staff would help. If using the portal, find guys that fit your culture and identity. If you don’t have one, build one. Chemistry is just as important as finding a PG and shooter.

yep never gelled like we had hoped. missed layups, missed FTs, dumb turnovers the story of the season and it showed again today.
