Him, yes. I'd like Edey to be introduced to the concepts of a three second count and being called for a foul or two, though
Is Mike Brey to G Town really going to happen?
Rumors are that Georgetown is trying to go after Ed Cooley, who will listen to their offer. That would be rough if Cooley left Providence for a Big East rival considering Cooley is Providence.

Out with a friends last night watching games. One guy is pretty tied into the Big 12. (Played as a walk on for KU 20 years ago - still has lots of contact with people in the know). He said Texas is after Brad….

Wonder how much heat is on Painter now? Fans in WL can't be very happy with that performance. Just goes to show you that no matter how good of a coach you are if the players can't execute then you are gonna get beat..
That's a wild take. Painter isn't going anywhere. Purdue has been one of the most consistent programs in the Big 10 right there with Michigan St.. 5 Sweet 16s and 1 Elite 8. Yes, they haven't taken that next step to elite level status but with what Purdue typically recruits, he has made that program into a perennial powerhouse. 8 straight NCAA tournaments too. Unfortunately for all programs, these upsets will happen. It means the gap is closing between the mid majors and the power conference schools. His postseason success is actually better than Gene Keady's. Keady had 2 Elite 8 appearances and 3 Sweet 16 appearances in more years of coaching. Painter will be fine

My post was more directed at the doom and gloom Illini fans who always think BU should be fired.... Painter is a great coach... However as I said if the players don't execute the game plan you gonna get whooped...

you wonder

St. john’s is NY’s version of DePaul in so many respects
I am old enough to remember crazy environments for St. Johns games. I am not old enough to remember crazy environments for DePaul games. So that's something.

I'm so glad UConn is back in the Big East, it feels like nature is healing in that part of the hoops world. If only Syracuse would come to their senses.

Not their top candidate. Whitman won't allow Brad to go unless there is a massive offer and even then idk
"IF" BU is their top pick, he WILL get a massive offer and will be gone unless he wants to establish a legacy here.

the only reason Saban didnt take their blank check was "money wasn't everything" and his wife said no.

I hear you but Underwood hasn't had the postseason success he should've had. If the #1 seed team at least made the Sweet 16, then I think there would be less heat on him. He has been outcoached and his teams have come out flat in every single NCAA tournament game since 2021

In reality, it was the 2020 team that never got a chance to play due to Covid that probably had the best chance at success. That 3 headed backcourt of Ayo, Frazier, and Feliz would've most likely done special things in March. Plummer, although a great 3 pt shooter, was too 1 dimensional. While Feliz could do it all. What a shame

I have to wonder how the pressure to succeed is, too. Texas is fanatical about Texas being #1 no matter the sport or cost and regardless of history. That has to be hard to take as well

Got stuck going into work at 4 a.m. and listened to the SCORE, which I believe has CBS Sports overnight. The CBS guy was saying 19 years is enough, they will never win with Painter and should move on.

I think the 1 seed would have played better as well if they had the Covid tournament experience.

The problem with moving on from Painter is there's no guarantee the next coach can lead you to the next level.

Look at Texas for example. Rick Barnes was there for 17 seasons, 16 tourney appearances but in last 8 years didn't make it out of 1st weekend at all.

Moved on to Shaka Smart for6 years who didn't get past 1st rd once!

Then to bears who last year got eliminated 2nd rd (now under a interim this year who could lead em further)

The grass isn't always greener on the other side

The Score hates college athletics.

As much as I hate to admit it, you can make a strong case that Painter is the best coach in the Big Ten. If you were to do some sort of fancy metric combining wins and players recruiting rankings, he'd likely be far and away on top. Though recruiting is part of the job, so you can't just say he's great because he wins with lesser recruits, but it does show his development and Xs and Os chops.

Looking at his results, he has won the Big Ten regular season 4 times in 18 seasons. Gene Keady won the Big Ten 6 times in 25 years. Painter has made 5 Sweet 16s and 1 Elite 8. Keady made 3 Sweet 16s and 2 Elite 8s. If Purdue were to get rid of Painter, I would laugh very hard.

Purdue knows what their future looks like. Painter hates the transfer bs and NIL, he won't stick around until he's 70. In fact I could see him leaving in the next 4 or 5 seasons. When he leaves Micah Shrewsberry will take over. The only fear they might have is, Shrewsberry is doing so well, he may get to a big time program before Painter leaves. Though I could see Shrewsberry going to Notre Dame and just sitting their and waiting.

I can certainly see why Brad would be of interest to Texas, but if I'm the Texas AD then my top candidate would be the coach that wins the Texas-Penn State game tonight.

Also if I'm a Texas fan, I don't think I would be excited to bring in a coach who has never been to the second weekend especially when that is a big reason why they wanted Barnes and Shaka gone.

Rodney Terry has probably earned it already, but a sweet 16 and a strong win over a red hot PSU would seal the deal.
