Is Texas really conducting interviews while still in the NCAA Tournament? Bizarre...Not trying to say your sources are wrong … But I can tell you with 100% certainty that a coach is interviewing for Texas this afternoon …

Oh my God, you literally couldn't make this up, haha. Yeah, I am all for weird allegiances when they make sense and the fan is loyal. I went to another Big Ten school entirely for logistical/financial reasons, but I grew up an Illini fan and remained one through it all! My best friend grew up a huge Wisconsin fan and went to Marquette, so he remained a Badgers football fan and while he cheered for Marquette, I think he still wanted Wisconsin to win when they played in hoops. Had another friend grow up a huge Iowa fan, go to Stanford and yet he'd never cheer for Stanford. The two worst kinds of college fans:
1. Fans of a football factory for football and a basketball factory for basketball
2. Fans who root for a powerhouse school when they went to (or are even currently attending) a different major conference school.
And of course you can even get horrific combinations of the two. And it's even WORSE if the school they actually attend is some highfalutin private school.
I once met a guy who was an undergrad student at Vanderbilt, a Florida football fan and a Duke basketball fan. Just a disgusting person.
These are not perfect measures regarding your question, but I think in the age of NIL it has become a lot more relevant for sports. Without speculating about how many non-alumni fans in these metros/states would help support these schools' NIL programs, compare the following:Does St John's have the NIL money to compete in this era? Not sure Pitino + recruiting New York is the slam dunk it would have been a decade ago.

Nope. These things coalesce on a deal-by-deal basis, and it's truly the wild west out there right now in terms of how for real any of these deals are.Is there a database of how much NIL money each school has?
Leaving any Big Ten school for DePaul would be a brutal move. DePaul wouldn't think of this because it isn't in their range of options. The more I thought about it, the more I would think that DePaul should cut bait with Stubblefield and go after Shrewsberry. But, knowing DePaul, they won't think outside the box like that

Why would he go to DePaul...an absolute train-wreck?The more I thought about it, the more I would think that DePaul should cut bait with Stubblefield and go after Shrewsberry. But, knowing DePaul, they won't think outside the box like that
Similar to scUM with Fisher after Freider. Took them far enough, they had to hire him.I can understand why some would want a bigger fish. But you can't argue with the job he is doing.
Georgetown is in a better position? St. John's? DePaul is a job where it you can find the right fit...it could be a winning situation. Dave Leiteo should have never left. He had a good thing going, bailed for Virginia and never got his career back on track. They're in a great conference, in what should be a great recruiting area....no reason for them to be bad. Same thing as St. John's. Pretty rich history for both. Why would he go to DePaul...an absolute train-wreck?
One of my friends while at UIUC was a ND Fan in football and a Duke fan in basketball. The two worst kinds of college fans:

Short answer - no.That just seems so awkward and weird to me as a Big Ten fan, as did Beard going from TTU to Texas even if it was his alma mater. Has there been any modern example of a coach going from one Big Ten school to another?! Here are the last two hires for every Big Ten school:
Illinois: Brad Underwood (Oklahoma State) and John Groce (Ohio)
Indiana: Mike Woodson (assistant in NBA) and Archie Miller (Dayton)
Iowa: Fran McCaffrey (Sienna) and Todd Lickliter (Butler)
Maryland: Kevin Willard (Seton Hall) and Mark Turgeon (Texas A&M)
Michigan: Juwan Howard (assistant in NBA) and John Beilein (West Virginia)
Michigan State: Tom Izzo (internal assistant) and Jud Heathcote (Montana)
Minnesota: Ben Johnson (assistant at Xavier) and Richard Pitino (FIU)
Nebraska: Fred Hoiberg (interim career period) and Tim Miles (Colorado State)
Northwestern: Chris Collins (assistant at Duke) and Bill Carmody (Princeton)
Ohio State: Chris Holtmann (Butler) and Thad Matta (Xavier)
Penn State: Micah Shrewsberry (assistant at Purdue) and Pat Chambers (Boston U)
Purdue: Purdue (internal assistant) and Gene Keady (Western Kentucky)
Rutgers: Steve Pikiell (Stony Brook) and Eddie Jordan (assistant in NBA)
Wisconsin: Greg Gard (internal assistant) and Bo Ryan (UW-Milwaukee)
So, the vast majority seem to be promoting internal assistants, hiring current NBA assistants with a past connection to the program or going the traditional "find the trending mid-major coach" approach. The following are examples of "splash hires," taking a head coach from a successful program of theoretically equal standing:
Illinois swiping Underwood from Oklahoma State
Maryland swiping Willard from Seton Hall
Maryland swiping Turgeon from Texas A&M
Michigan swiping Beilein from West Virginia
However, nobody has just jumped from one Big Ten job to another ... it practically seems like it goes against some fraternal code, haha.
P.S. For the silly talk of us being a "stepping stone job" sometimes, Illinois and Maryland appear to be the only programs on that list able to swipe coaches from Power Five teams multiple times in the past 30+ years (with us taking Kruger from Florida)!
And Notre Dame isn't a train wreck currently? Penn St. wasn't a train wreck before he came? It's about the coach, not the program. DePaul could get back on the right track if it had the right leadershipWhy would he go to DePaul...an absolute train-wreck?
ugh. I do really despise those types of people. I know the type. Typically are wealthy from dad's money, and Dad wouldnt let them go to their favorite sports school. The west suburbs are now full of 'Bama football fans and Duke hoops fans.I once met a guy who was an undergrad student at Vanderbilt, a Florida football fan and a Duke basketball fan. Just a disgusting person.
its an unwritten and undiscussed rule of conference schools not poaching coaches in the revenue sports. Used to happen in football way back in the day until they kinda put a stop to it. Rightfully so. Thats SEC crapShort answer - no.
According to sports-reference.com, there have been 6 coaches to work at 2 different B1G schools. Four of those went directly from one to the other with the most recent being Ozzie Cowles, who moved from Michigan to Minnesota after the '47-48 season.
disagree. It would seriously take a miracle by a Sister Jean type at DePaul for them to regain relevance. And Notre Dame isn't a train wreck currently? Penn St. wasn't a train wreck before he came?
