I wouldn't say completely. If I'm not mistaken, BU's post-win, post-presser, shouting lockerroom bust-ins continued all year.

Not saying you're wrong, but I think there could be other reasons for the clear change in demeanor.
My interpretation has been that this was just a very challenging season to navigate, as a coach, but especially as the kind of coach BU is. With the lack of a clear alpha player, overall youth and inexperience of the team, obvious personality/culture issues, Skyy's underwhelming play as starting PG (and subsequent departure), untimely injuries, players having extended slumps, etc...BU is no idiot, and the writing was on the wall that this team was just not going to pan out. I think it's been said by a few, in different ways, but I get the impression nobody was happier to see this season end than Brad.
I also wonder if somebody got into his ear about the yelling and going nuclear, at some point...or he realized on his own that he needed to chill out a bit. There could be some truth to the notion that's been bandied around about today's average player simply not responding well to that style of coaching, if not outright rejecting it. Player egos are well fed in the era of social media, NIL, the transfer portal, etc. Could be that BU has been (perhaps begrudgingly) trying to change his tune a bit, in an attempt to adapt to this new reality.

Maybe Terry would prefer a job other than Texas, where he would feel more wanted, instead of a fall back option, and have an easier path to success (rather than UT's expectations). Or maybe hedging his bets if he doesn't get Texas. I still think Texas arrogance prevents them from hiring him unless there is a FF. Even then they could be reluctant.

I think I'm reading this wrong, so don't understand.... What do you mean most schools can spend their NIL money on the best available player and end up with more options?
Also don't understand what you mean when you say stacking the deck against him.
Are you just saying Josh told him don't scare off any more players, because you will get a reputation and no one will want to come here?
When I read I thought it meant if you have a coach that’s easier to play for, you can attract more players.
I think March screws a lot of programs with their future coaches. Now there is no denying Florida Atlantic has had a phenomenal year. I believe they were ranked in the top 25 at one point, but they also played no one all season. Their best opponent was Ole Miss and they lost. Then they get to the tournament and they play Memphis, who is a great team, but they're coached by Penny. Squeaked by that one, then they get the 16 seed due to a historic upset. After that they get a Tennessee team without their PG, who I have watched multiple times this year (even with their PG) and was never impressed with a single time. Now if they can beat Kansas State that will obviously be a big accomplishment.
This is not to say Dusty May isn't that great and won't succeed wherever he goes. I don't really know. But if you look at his record up until this season he's never won 20 games. He'd never won the conference and never made the tournament. Never even made the NIT. He doesn't exactly have a glittering past with great coaches. A student manager under Bobby Knight. I doubt the managers are in planning meetings. He worked under Mike Davis and Mike White which is meh at best. So I'll be interested to see how he does. Yes you need to give a guy time to build a program, but a blowup season in season 5 after no real progression in seasons 1-4 makes me wonder if this season is an aberration or the culmination of his work? Either way he's definitely getting a new job and a huge raise, maybe he ends up at Penn State?
The biggest burn from a March run that just hits closest to home was John Groce. I certainly was not alone, but had no idea what the appeal of John Groce was. In 5 seasons at Ohio, never finished better than 3rd in the MAC, but one year he made a flukey Sweet 16 and all the sudden he was ready for a major head coaching job? There are tons of examples of this. It's like the backup QB who has a great run when the starter is injured. He parlays that into a starting job and a huge payday and then proceeds to show everyone why he was a backup. For every Tom Brady or Bill Self there are a dozen Matt Cassels or John Groces.
relative to performance, is any coach as richly paid as BU?

I hope that Brad Underwood returns. However, if he chooses to move on, so be it. I am confident that Josh Whitman has a list of suitable candidates to replace him. On more than one occasion, Coach Underwood referred to the fact that shot selection was a problem. That issue did not get fixed. At the end of the year players referenced the fact that some players were not listening to the staff. Hopefully those issues will be solved by graduation and attrition. Finally this is a question that is rhetorical in question. Why wait until the last game of the season to bench your second leading scorer?

After watching KSU make Izzo whine last night, I’m a KSU fan for rest of the tournament. Somehow, Nowell managed to take control and finish the game without breaking his nose. Yeah I’m still bitter.
It might have been nothing…he seemed quite displeased at him one night on the sideline. He gave him an ear full about something. Might have been grumpy, or venting about his car insurance for all I know. Lol
