Kendall Gill is on the post game show and always throwing out pro Illini vibes. Phoenix is an interesting prospect at an interesting school not known for basketball. Hasnt really been relevant since Egwu played for them. I think Illinois might have been Phoenix' first offer.
St. Ignatius/U of I alum here. No, Ignatius is not a known basketball power. But the program has made some decent runs since Egwu graduated. Made a good run this year (placed 4th in state) with Rich Barron (Providence) and Jackson Kotecki (Miami-Ohio) along with Phoenix. Made the Sweet 16 3 years ago and won a couple of Super Sectionals since 2020. So actually the program has improved since Egwu.

I told Brad on Friday that I’m gonna sit in on practice and watch him throw Buck on DGL after Buck has had 2 summers with Fletch and Brad tells Buck lock this kid up or he’s taking your minutes …

That stretch is all I’ll need to see … Buck has that dawg in him … People counted him out this year and he rises to the occasion and plays meaningful minutes … We don’t win in Vegas without him …

Every time DGL has been challenged … He transfers …

I deal with facts and those are that … Not a knock on the kid but let’s see what he’s got and if he has to sit then let’s see what he decides to do with that news …

And no matter what Mom or Dad or the circle have to say … This is the University of Illinois… We don’t hand out minutes here … Minutes are earned on the court …

Oh he knows the areas he needs to work on …

I do think part of those logo 3s were legitimately out of frustration … Were we going to get a better shot than that with Epps or Skyy running point ? Probably not … 🤷🏻‍♂️
I'd personally like to see him spend more time on the 8-12 footer.

I really expected him to take a jump in shooting last year and it didn't really happen. Hopefully he'll get it done next year.

I apologize. Im from the South side. If its not Simeon, Young, Rita currently Kenwood, formerly Morgan Park then I dont hear about much else. Is Barron the 6'5 kid that has an Illinois offer?

I think it was 0440 who was firm on that, although it’s possible Indy said the same and I missed it.

Coleman just doesn’t want to be stuck at the 5 … Obviously if we go against Purdue … Dain will be in … QG on the bench … But against some teams … Coleman can play the 5 …

But NBA teams want Coleman as a stretch 5 … So he needs to showcase that some and shoot better to improve his draft stock …

Starters:
PG
TJ
Domask
QG
Hawkins

Bench:
Dain
Harmon
Ty
Goode
Hansberry
Buck

There will only be 3 out of this group who get significant tick … Earn your minutes … There will be competition …

Guys who won’t play meaningful minutes:
DGL
Moretti
Sencire?

The DGL rumblings are disappointing. I'm not sure why we have a scholarship locked up for a guy who now we have "insiders" throwing shade at. We knew what we were getting into. If we don't like it now, why did we even go here?

It’s the new age of HS recruiting … You don’t know what’s gonna be in the portal so you take a kid in the fall and hope to recruit over him … If you miss in the portal then you’ve got him to fall back on …

I'm from the South Side too. Southeast Side specifically. If I didn't go to Ignatius, I wouldn't follow them either.

And Barron was on campus for an unofficial at Illinois but they never offered. He signed with George Mason, but their coach left so Providence swooped in. He's a big-bodied 6'6 wing.

I loved it when Coleman went into the lane with purpose. He has the tools to be unstoppable in the paint between quickness/shiftiness and passing ability, wish he'd embrace that part of his skill set
