Is DGL going to get play time this year or is he expected to redshirt? Not sure what to expect from him this year
I watched a few of his prep school games last season. Tons of talent and athleticism. He played regularly and well against D1 recruits... but have yet see how that translates to going against very experienced D1 players, esp defense and being able drive and get shots against experienced defenses. I was really impressed when watching him..... but you never know until he tries to drive against Harris or defend TSJ.

I know it’s been beaten to death, but for those of us who might still be interested, it looks like Podz did quite well at the combine;

“Scouts and executives only had positive feedback throughout the week, and interest appears to be snowballing. Just reading the gym, it sounds like Podziemski will be in play for teams starting in the late teens and early 20s.”

If he's good he will play. Even if he's not I doubt he would redshirt. I know the feeling overall on him as been down recently but just a few things to remember. He frequently outplayed "five star" Jeremy Fears in the EYBL and he was better statistically than five star Rob Dillingham in OTE. He's also practically the same size as both of them as well. I think he may surprise some people this year.

Looks like Hawkins didn't have as good of a showing as he needed at the combine. I can't see him getting drafted higher than 50 or 55 and with international prospects, I can't imagine why he would risk keeping his name in the draft.

I'm not sure if I was Coach Brad that I wouldn't hold a grudge against Ray J after all this angst. I guess that's just part of the new era but damn, this is crazy. I suppose their dealing with agents but I would be fed up.
Hold a grudge because a kid took a couple of free trips and wants to know who he’ll be playing with on the court next year? I’m sure Brad has actual first hand information regarding the situation and is way less worried than many of the posters on here.

A fantastic question.

If I remember correctly a few of the episodes went up against the World Series.

As far as I'm concerned those Fox execs are going to
As I recall the story, Firefly was Whedon's price for doing another season of the extremely lucrative Buffy. The execs never wanted it. After Firefly (and Buffy) were shot, Josh declined to do yet another season of Buffy. The execs kept their word and aired Firefly, doing pretty much everything they could to ensure it failed - airing episodes out of order on inconsistent days/times, against the world series. It was a "subtle" reminder of who held the power.

I can't think of another ensemble show where pretty much the entire cast does such a fantastic job (Tudyk was weak IMO). Anyone proposing Friends or Seinfeld can see themselves out. Cheers wasn't as evenly balanced across the cast.

I'd love to see the (untold) preachers story done as a book or movie.

Now back to speculating about 0440's identity. If they are 20% gray, that would seem to rule out Tyler.

@LvilleILL Since Aziz Bandaogo was supposedly our back up plan for Hawkins and he committed to Cincy, does that mean Brad did not need to worry about the back up plan after all? ;)

Not so sure that's an accurate read:

I heard Brad say (yesterday on Saturday Sports Talk) that his hands are tied during a period such as this. With three major "uncertainties" in his 2023 recruiting strategy, he's unable to make commitable offers to players in the portal plus those kids don't necessarily want to come here when they know there's a chance that three NBA-quality players (Shannon, Hawkins and Dennis) may be returning/coming. So he instead keeps his phone turned on while on the golf course, works with his staff to identify multiple back-up plans, and tries to exhibit a degree of patience that he doesn't really have.

And best of all, this is happening for a very good reason --- we're dealing with potential future NBA talent. So the program is in a very good state.

I'd vote YES, predicated upon one very large condition --- that Sencire can work on his jump shot and consistently hit 45% from the field, 70% from the FT line, and 32% from three.
Those would be reasonable nos. and a good progression. Would also like to see the 10 ppg that Gill averaged his soph year. He had the same 3.7 as Sencire his frosh year with no 3 pt attempts. Going to be surprised if he isn’t a signifant contributor.

He might be down the road. With the players being brought in and roster being developed he is at best a 9/10 guy in rotation this year.
Rodgers and Harmon and Goode will all be ahead of him and they could also be coming off the bench.

...please not another week of this. I'm all out of Podz thoughts and running low on cottage cheese.

I've just started putting all the Podziemski posters on ignore. The cottage cheese posters are fine as that is more relevant to Illinois basketball than Brandin Podziemski at this point. Cottage cheese is still a part of my life; Brandin is not.
