I have not been on this board for all that long so don't know why all the Walken GIFS in your posts but assuming you like the man, you have to watch The Outlaws on Amazon Prime. It is a great show and he is awesome in it. British show so pretty high quality.

Does anyone have more information regarding the Fighting Illini Showcase MTE? Opponents? Date?

Does this mean we won't be attending any other preseason tournaments?
Per that link, here are the Big Ten teams:

Illinois: Campus MTE with small schools
Indiana: Empire Classic (New York, NY - Nov. 19-20)
Iowa: Rady Children's International (San Diego, CA - Nov. 23-24)
Maryland: Asheville Championship (Asheville, NC - Nov. 10-12)
Michigan: Battle 4 Atlantis (Paradise Islands, Bahamas - Nov. 22-24)
Michigan State: N/A
Minnesota: Campus MTE with small schools
Nebraska: N/A
Northwestern: Hall of Fame Tip-Off (Uncasville, CT - Nov. 18-19)
Ohio State: Emerald Coast Classic (Niceville, FL - Nov. 24-25)
Penn State: ESPN Events Invitational (Lake Buena Vista, FL - Nov. 23-24)
Purdue: Maui Invitational (Lahaina, HI - Nov. 20-22)
Rutgers: N/A
Wisconsin: Fort Myers Tip-Off (Fort Myers, FL - Nov. 20-22)

That would suck if we are going to have a schedule comparable to the absolute jokes that Minnesota and Rutgers usually play. :( Some of these tournaments have some great competition and fun matchups in the field, too:

Empire Classic: Indiana, Louisville, UConn, Texas
Rady Children's International: Iowa, Oklahoma, Seton Hall, USC
Battle 4 Atlantis: Michigan, North Carolina, Villanova, Arkansas, Memphis, Texas Tech, Stanford, Northern Iowa
Emerald Coast Classic: Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, Santa Clara
Maui Invitational: Purdue, Kansas, UCLA, Syracuse, Gonzaga, Tennessee, Marquette, Chaminade

Maybe I got spoiled with last year's great schedule, but it really seems like this would be the weakest non-conference schedule in YEARS if we can't get in any type of tournament, don't have a UC comeback game set up and aren't going to throw together a home-and-home this close to the season.

I decided to look at our non-conference schedules and the tournaments (I/A) during the Underwood Era that we played in, along with the other teams in the field. I also included any one-time non-conference matchups that were part of a special event, and I left out his first season, as I didn't know if he really had a say in whatever we played in that year or not:

2022-23
Main Event:
#5 Baylor, #8 UCLA, #16 Virginia, #19 Illinois
Jimmy V Classic: #2 Texas, #15 Duke, #17 Illinois, Iowa

2021-22
Hall of Fame Classic:
#13 Arkansas, #14 Illinois, Cincinnati, Kansas State

2020-21 (Shortened COVID Season)
Jimmy V Classic:
#1 Gonzaga, #2 Baylor, #5 Illinois, #11 West Virginia,

2019-20
"O'ahu Classic" - a bunch of small schools playing us in Champaign

2018-19
Maui Invitational:
#1 Duke, #3 Gonzaga, #8 Auburn, Arizona, Illinois, Iowa State, Xavier, San Diego State

So, other than Maui being in Brad's second season (which we have minimal control over, as they rotate Big Ten teams), it seems our schedules had been getting pretty fun and competitive! I just really hope that doesn't have to stop this year. :(

Great news! Marquette is showing up very high in a lot of preseason rankings that I have seen. It should be an electric atmosphere in Champaign!! For those planning to attend, the Gavitt Tipoff Games will likely follow this schedule, if they do the same setup as last year:

- 2 games on Monday 11/13
- 2 games on Tuesday 11/14
- 1 game on Wednesday 11/15
- 1 game on Thursday 11/16
- 2 games on Friday 11/17

It looks like they had both "prime" matchups on Friday last year - #12 Indiana at Xavier and Villanova at Michigan State. I would like to think we are one of the more intriguing matchups on there!

We will definitely be a very intriguing matchup if we can secure the holy trinity of RayJ, Terrence, Coleman in the next couple weeks.
