Me thinks the staff will take a totally different approach to this coming season. After enduring some of the issues they faced in 22-23 they are keeping the more team oriented players and adding more of the same. As long as a stud/veteran PG is added and either CH or TSJ come back , we can look forward to a better year and for sure will have a better fan experience watching them. I don't EVER want to go through a season like that again.

Let's get some B10 swagger back!!

Hey all - anyone have any more details on the Spain trip, other than it's going to be in August sometime? I have family and friends in and around Barcelona that I'd like to share whatever info is available. Thanks/gracias/moltes gràcies

For those in the know, what is the plan for the additional coaches that the staff can have effective July 1. Is it possible that Brad hires another recruiter and moves Alexander in one of positions that can't recruit off campus?

Division I Council modernizes rules for coaching limits

Coaching limits

The Council voted to eliminate the voluntary coach designation across Division I, instead including those coaches within a new limit for countable coaches in each of the applicable sports.

By adopting the proposal, the number of countable coaches in baseball, softball and ice hockey increased to four total in each sport. The Council rejected an additional increase to five countable coaches in those sports.

The Council supported an increase of two coaches in men's and women's basketball. These additional coaches may engage in coaching activities but may not recruit off campus.

Hope one of the additional coaches can coach FT shooting.

I think sliding GA to a non recruiting skills coach will be a win win as we will be able to grab another recruiter to go along with CF and TA. I could teach FTs as I was a 90% shooter in my day. It’s all about creating your own form and repetition. I have Never been at a practice but it seems that FT shooting is more of an individual thing than part of the actual practice. More informed people than I might have inside info on that.

I think it will be interesting to see how these new positions are thought of in the coaching community. Would not having full AC duties be looked at as a “negative” as coaches try to position themselves for a HC position? Will those positions be primarily filled by young coaches trying to get foot in door and build a resume and grizzled vets who have tired of the recruiting aspect of the sport and not really on the HC track any longer? Also curious to know what the difference in salaries will be between full-duty ACs and the stay at home ones. Talking about this in general across the sport as well as with Illini.

gonna go out on a limb and say Tennessee ;)
Lol, I guess I could have been clearer than “other,” but I meant excluding the games listed in Dan’s OP (only Tennessee) and obviously Braggin’ Rights. 🙃

Surprised there haven’t been rumors of a high profile replacement for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge or a November tournament!

I’ve heard Gavitt will expand and thus we’ll likely participate … obviously give me a marquee matchup in Champaign like UConn or Marquette if possible, but I’d gladly settle for an away game at DePaul’s shiny new arena so we could fill it with Illini fans (especially if the UC game isn’t returning)!
