I think you're overselling a bit how much of our offensive issues were about lacking a pure PG.
We got a top PG last year. Our offense wasn't good with him either. If we had a top-30 PG coming in you wouldn't be saying this, but we'd be in the same spot we were a year ago.
I think last year's team had pretty obvious chemistry issues, and hopefully those are settled. Just that alone will go a long way.
Which one? The freshman that averaged as many turnovers as he did assists and quit on the team halfway through the season? Or the other freshman that also averaged as many turnovers as he did assists and quit on the team halfway through games and, eventually, at the end of the season?
Any argument that we had a competent PG last year is a bad one.
