We have won a single conference championship and won one conference tournament in 6 years as BU as head coach. Yes, I would absolutely trade being 2/12 (6 years for each individual title) for more wins in March.

I don't think that's what OP was getting at.Williams ain’t no walk-onthe kid needs more respect on here. Is he a world beater? No. But he comes with little baggage/drama and will work his tail off. Doesn’t mind to play second fiddle and push the ball around the court to scorers.
He was just asking if he could be scholarship-less next year, not saying talent wise that he is only a walk-on. I think he was talking/thinking about scholarship numbers if we are still looking to add more besides Williams now.
It's wild, I read the last 25 pages of this thread and assumed we had missed on all three of our targets. Then I discovered, nope, we got the two most important targets and we're melting down because we lost the third guy.

What I'm saying is that 1)we won the recruiting battle of the year with Clark. He was a bust. He wasn't dismissed, he quit. 2)I do believe in addition by subtraction. We had a few.... selfish(being diplomatic) issues last year. 3)We haven't even seen the final roster yet. What are we even judging this upcoming season on, on June 1st?
I have seen JWill and Harmon the exact same amount of times that I've seen Dennis. Heck, at least Harmon played well enough in the NIT that people actually took notice because they won games against high major teams.
To be clear, I'm not saying that your wrong. This season could be a complete bust. However, we forget guys like Guerrier, who can be a huge piece. We discount Rodgers potential jump from his Freshmen to his Sophomore season. We have a full season of Goode. We have a roster laden with upperclassmen.

There is absolutely zero way Sencire Harris loses his scholarship to bring on a new player. He not only plays with so much heart, but he has some serious ability and untapped potential on the defensive side of the ball. His offensive game needs work, but he can still get a bucket here and there. Gotta be someone else getting Crean’d for another PG.
I don't like getting bounced before the second weekend of the tournament any more than you do. Trust me. However, is your view of this team so poor that you've put a ceiling on them in June?
Simply put, PG is the most important position when running an offense. Not having a good PG immediately puts a ceiling on a teams offensive ability as we saw last year. We do not have a PG, and the PG we missed on was the reason we also missed on multiple other P5 talent-level PG's. Now, we have to collect scraps as our way of getting one? Yes, a ceiling seems fit.
If BU somehow pulls something out of his @$$ and gets us a quality PG before next season, I will admit that I am wrong about that. If he gets said PG and finally gets to the second weekend and beyond, then I will admit I was completely wrong. As I said before, I have defended BU for years and I would honestly love to be proven wrong. I am also just being realistic. Which is more likely: We land a great PG who can run our offense and make the players around him better and make the second weekend of the tournament OR we missed out on our chances to get a great PG and will once again be bounced early in the tournament.

Why (up until this very moment in time) have the Illini not reeled in and added a Nationally ‘Elite’ point guard? It would have been a big stretch for any elite position one guy to commit to the Illini without knowing what Hawkins and Shannon were going to do. And they waited until the very end to make their plans known so there was a big void and question mark.
If they had announced their decisions a week ago the entire landscape might have changed. The Illini have all the other pieces that an elite point guard would love to lead and orchestrate. But in the absence of knowing the Big Two’s status it would have been a real leap of faith (and big risk) to come to the Beloved beforehand.
And perhaps the Illini yet have a surprise ahead for us all to complete the puzzle. Regardless of what happens The Beloved is already Top 25.
All fair statements. If we wet the bed at the end of the year, I'll provide the same admission.

I think you're overselling a bit how much of our offensive issues were about lacking a pure PG.
We got a top PG last year. Our offense wasn't good with him either. If we had a top-30 PG coming in you wouldn't be saying this, but we'd be in the same spot we were a year ago.
I think last year's team had pretty obvious chemistry issues, and hopefully those are settled. Just that alone will go a long way.

Our offense wasn't good with Skyy either because Skyy wasn't a good PG. Was that because of chemistry? skill? something else? It doesn't matter. He was not a good PG and our offense suffered. Jayden wasn't a good PG and our offense suffered.
If Moretti wasn’t on the team … He’d be the worst player on the team right now … That means when it’s time to Crean … He’s on the chopping block …
