As much as I'd love to have him, I doubt he'll even enter the portal given his seeming loyalty to Rutgers, and if he does opt for the portal I highly doubt he'd transfer to a school in the same conference.

Let's say we get him. This could mean we could have a starting lineup of these heights:

PG: 6'7"
SG: 6'6"
SF: 6'6"
PF: 6'8"
C: 6'10"

That's one long team, containing some really top tier defensive guys (Hawkins, Shannon, Mulcahy). We could easily be a top 15 defensive team in the country with this.

I would be okay with a point guard rotation of Mulcahy and Williams with DGL/Harris/Rodgers filling in anything further.

Are you asking me for my sources? Lol. I’ve known he might enter for like 5 days now. Now that it’s going around on Twitter I don’t feel bad for sharing it here
So we are involved and you and Ville are talking about the same player? That is what I meant.

I was at that game. 6th row from the floor along the baseline. If Augie or Roger so much as shed a drop of sweat on Sean May, they were called for a foul. Meanwhile, Powell got practically assaulted when he got the ball in the paint and it was never called. The NCAA and the Refs were on the Roy Williams deserves to win an NCAA title bandwagon and it showed. Plus I assume our guys at least went to class sometimes unlike the NC players. A travesty!
I was there too though much higher up. 100% agree. On this topic I will never get to stage 5. Not sure I'm past 2.

Mulcahy is an excellent defender, a good decision-maker in the high pick and roll, and a capable (but not great) shooter… sign me up.

I do wonder (1) how interested he’d really be in Illinois or any B1G team for that matter, and (2) what kind of NIL Illinois could bring to the table given what I’m assuming are some upset boosters after the RayJ miss. Would they pony up for Mulcahy?

So, insiders who can’t say anything… if someone is coming:
Blink once if the staff is helping someone understand how extremely limited their minutes are projecting.
Blink twice if an incoming transfer is likely to look elsewhere based on the draft-withdrawal of Hawkins (or Shannon) dramatically changing their opportunity here.

Thanks

Mulcahy has been very active in NIL in terms of using the money for good causes. I could see him simply going to the highest bidder so he can continue that.

He's also probably got a decent pro outlook overseas so somewhere that can showcase his skillset to the fullest.

Who knows how it’ll play out but Illinois has something to offer most don’t right now. unlimited minutes at the 1 surrounded by a couple potential NBA players. And great NIL.
