I look forward to one day visiting California's Atlantic coast
Once upon a time, the idea of California NOT having an east coast was unthinkable. Kinda like the PAC 12 ceasing to exist.

Extrapolation is often unwise.

1. Sure puts a lot more travel burden on the midwest West schools. No different than that already on the Pac-West schools, but a lot less than anyone in the East division. Fair?

2. Permanent home game for USC or UCLA for the B10 championship? No thanks. Alternate Rose Bowl with a domed stadium around here (say Arlington Heights or Indy) and I can get on board.
That’s Action Heights to all you non-residents!

yea . I saw that too

does he think he’s going to watch his Sun Devils tear up the B12 and get an invite to the SEC
Yep. With his buddy Herm Edwards at the helm again, since that worked out so well the first time.

Who knows, Ray may actually be tethered loosely to reality and be aiming merely for the B1G.

At this point, something that would actually make me happy is to add Notre Dame and Florida State and split the conference in to 2 divisions:

Classic Division - Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Northwestern

Neo Division - Penn State, Maryland, Rutgers, Nebraska, Florida State, Notre Dame, UCLA, USC, Oregon, and Washington

I got back to finishing a presentation for work and after a while a somewhat comparable (though weaker) example occurred to me: Oregon's '80s logo v now.

They still use the mascot logo separately after disintegrating the old logo. That clean "O" logo and typeface has stayed fresh since they introduced it around 2000 (?). I'm not a big fan of the current duck mascot logo. He looks lobotomized compared with ragin' Donald. (The royalties to Disney got too steep?!)

Back in the '70s-'90s their helmets had a linked green UO on yellow. Kinda dug those old-school unis. Reminded me of the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos.

And, no, I'm not (that) off-topic. They're part of the family now. ;) I completely forgot that Bobby Moore (Ahmad Rashad) played there. I always thought he was from Oregon State.

That newer version of the duck logo has seen some things, man. Terrible things.

I really like this split.

I wonder if any division split will come with some travel allowances from the conference.

For god's sake just combine the Powerless Three. It doesn't have to be like this.

Miami to Berkley, a mere 3036 miles
A lot of jetlag.

I feel like Minnesota and Iowa flip there but not bad. If you flip Michigan and Purdue the OSU/Mich game is naturally protected and I don’t know if you need to do “lock in” any other cross divisional rivalries. As a bonus, we stay in the weaker division as we continue to strengthen our foundation under BB.

I think you take the 3 division champions and a wild card, play the big ten semifinal the last week of the season. Then the winners play the championship game in the normal slot.
