Spain is gonna be a nation to deal with for years to come. In addition to their senior team being World Cup champions, they're U-17 and U-20 sides are also the reigning World Cup champions at those levels (By comparison, the U.S. U-17 team lost in the quarterfinals and the U-20 team didn't make it out of the group stage in the most recent tournaments at those levels). The talent gap between the U.S. and the rest of the world has closed because of how much other nations, especially in Europe, have invested in player development, so the U.S. won't be the dominant side they have been in the past.
We won't know until next May where the 2027 Women's World Cup will be held. The U.S. and Mexico have announced a joint bid as have Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. Brazil and South Africa have also submitted individual bids to host the tournament.
