Give me more vertical TE routes(yeah I know one was a trick play last week). Clear out space underneath for 1 and we will thrive. Let's gooooo
That would be nice, plus we need plays that don’t take long to develop. This Purdue Dline is ok, we should be able to move the ball. Purdue had a tough time stopping sideline fade routes vs Syracuse.

Syracuse wrs dropped several passes that would have accounted for a couple more scores. Washington, Ellyz, and (drawing a blank) can expose them on the outside.

Purdue likes to hit over the middle routes on offense about 10-20 yards downfield (or attempt to). We have to make them one dimensional.

Run game has been a disappointment compared to 2 years ago when we used the two tight end formation and ran over people.

Last year Chase made our run game worked.

We have to establish the run to open up play action passes.

I am pleased we are throwing to our tight ends more.

Could we start seeing more of Henry Boyer, along with Tip, in 2 TE formations to chip the DEs and help get the running game going? Really like what Griffin Moore has done as a down field target.

What if... and hear me out on this.... I don't want to subscribe to ANOTHER streaming service???????
Not often I can use this twice in the same thread for completely different topics...

I really enjoy (and by that I mean am usually disgusted and anxious) watching the games live. It's getting harder and harder to justify signing up for steaming services for one game. I'm already paying basically $20 a week to Hulu for one game (at an $80 monthly price).

In all honesty, as much as I like watching (read "am sick to my stomach the entire game") I might pass this one up and watch the 20 minute condensed version on YouTube the following day. I'll certainly miss the commercial interruptions every 5 minutes (read "thank god")

The last two matchups between these teams have been ugly for different reasons. Last year it was due to the infamous Indiana officiating crew throwing flags left and right on Illinois, with my favorite being a PI called on Witherspoon that negated an INT even though Charlie Jones was pushing into him.
This still makes my blood boil. Happened right in front of me. Watched the whole thing. As it was happening, I told my buddy this is not our day. The flag flew. I then said many a-curse words. I actually can’t think of a time I’ve booed louder. And for a long time.

I'm expecting a chippy, low-scoring grinder of a game that comes down to field position and turnovers. 17-16 Illini.
I'm going with the opposite. High scoring affair, with some notable turnovers throughout the game. These two defenses give up the most points in the entire Big10.

31-24 Purdue (Boilers just seem to have our number. And I'll take the over.)

I'm 4-0 in predicting the winner YTD; however, I'm just 1-3 against the spread. It's a good thing I don't bet for real.

The Illini will shoot themselves in the foot over and over again with stupid penalties-Purdue 21-Illini 14

Any chance we see heavier sets? Extra lineman or one of the other TEs chip blocking? This line just isn’t cutting it. It’s so painfully obvious how bad they are as a collective unit, but that right side is scary bad. Honestly Adams has been pretty rough, I’d consider just moving him back to LG and dealing with whoever at RT. He seems more effective inside.

Purdue is a bit of a worrisome matchup for us as what they excel at: short to midrange passes, we haven't been particularly good at defending this season. And what they've been poor at: Defense, especially their D line, we haven't been able to exploit thus far due to our o-line woes. I think we have the much better skill players on offense and defense except QB, and even there I think it's looked fairly even thus far. But our gaping hole at RT and our general ineffectiveness of our LB corps makes me dread this game. If we can just patch those 2 areas and come off the bus with energy from the opening whistle, I see us winning. But the question is will we?

I think Lunney started getting something going in the 2nd half last game, going more bulk and max protect, power runs, and quick routes and would like to see him continue that against a Purdue D that has had some issues. We just can't make it easy on them by giving them free runs on our QB.

I really hope we can win this one and I truly think we should, but I just don't know if we'll be able to put it together. Man do we need this win though...

My prediction:
Purdue 30
Illinois: 24

And copious amounts of alcohol, depression, and Peacock hatred

$80 a month for Hulu? We get the version with commercials, and my wife insists we're "only" paying $10 or $15/month for it. (I'm still gonna cancel it as soon as the finale of Only in the Murders in the Building drops next week.)

This is why we have to flat out score them. Set up the barge and see what happens.
