That would be especially funny since the CFP isn't an NCAA event.what FSU should do is remain silent til 2 days before their bowl game then inform ncaa that their players have opted out of the bowl game.

JMU, Jacksonville St. bowl-bound for first time
James Madison and Jacksonville State are each headed to bowl games for the first time in their programs' histories.www.espn.com
How is JMU going to a bowl? The NCAA said they weren’t eligible. I am confused
Also looks like a 5-7 Minnesota is going to Detroit for a bowl
Oh I have no conference pride…I don’t necessarily root FOR the teams that are playing B1G teams…I just root against our hated rivals and D-bag programs. (Like Michigan)No no, I get conference pride, but because of Connor Stalions and company, rooting for the Wolverines is like rooting for Astros after their cheating scandal! It is not an option!
Imagine if Tom Brady got hurt in game 14 of the 2007 NFL season but the Patriots still went 16-0. Then the NFL decided to give the 13-3 Colts the #1 seed instead because they still had their QB even though their record was worse.
Sure, because using a committee to decide playoffs is and always was idiotic. Make rules and tiebreakers that are clear and applied uniformly, full stop.Except for the fact that the NFL doesn't use a committee to decide who makes the playoffs.

It really isn't, though. Next year we literally start an expanded playoff that has much more clear rules about who gets in (even if it is still inherently partially subjective due to the size of the field of teams in FBS). As long as they follow their own rules, it should be a lot more clear who gets in and why.Yup.
The moment they decided to make this little mini tournament, they needed to change their SOP on how teams get in.
The decision today is an obvious money > performance example of where college football is going.
Woot.

Understood, but Ole Miss is a more appropriate matchup for Liberty than U of O. The ducks should either be in the Peach Bowl against PSU or in the Cotton Bowl playing tOSU or Miznoz.Believe it has to do with highest G6 team getting an auto invite, so to speak, to a NY6 game.

At least when there are 12 teams that get in, it’s hard to argue for any 13th ranked team that they truly deserve to be in for national championship contention. But someone somewhere somehow will complain. It really isn't, though. I hope Michigan gets absolutely embarrassed. Also, the only Big Ten team I would ever actively cheer for in the CFP is Illinois. No no, I get conference pride, but because of Connor Stalions and company, rooting for the Wolverines is like rooting for Astros after their cheating scandal! It is not an option!
I understand that but the NCAA said they weren’t eligible because they haven’t been in the bowl division long enough. So if their wins didn’t make them eligible they shouldn’t be allowed in by the NCAA logicTurns if there wasn't enough bowl eligible 6+ win teams, they and Jacksonville State got like the 5 win teams did (without the academic score).
Ah, I misunderstood what you were getting at. My bad.Understood, but Ole Miss is a more appropriate matchup for Liberty than U of O. The ducks should either be in the Peach Bowl against PSU or in the Cotton Bowl playing tOSU or Miznoz.
Except the Orange Bowl, all the New Year’s Six Bowl Games state “at large” for the bids, but is there still some old legacy alliances in the background in those decisions?
All that said, if Bo Nix decides not to play, it could be a long day for the ducks no matter who they play.
Nah. If you're FSU, you play the game. You hope Alabama ekes by Michigan and Texas edges Washington. Then go out there and obliterate Georgia by as much as you can. You do that and then immediately after the game you declare yourself National Champion and the only team worthy of that title. You furthermore call the so-called Championship game a farce as it doesn't even include the best and only undefeated team in college football and that whoever wins is a paper tiger. And then tell the AP pollsters to vote them #1 and rightfully award them the Natty and right this colossal wrong. If I am FSU I would not want to play that game. What is the point you win it means nothing you lose it justifies people saying we told you so. FSU won’t opt out because of the money.
To me the argument the committee used was weak. And f you go by the eye test you could have said O$U since their only lose is to the number 1 team on the road and they beat ND at ND. UT dismantle Okla St but they aren’t as good as Louisville. Bama struggled against Auburn and USF this year. Winning the game matters not how dominant you appear to be
If we go undefeated and win the B1G, we can't get FSUed under the new system. And if we aren't in that situation, then it's not getting FSUed.Disagree, it just moves the cutoff line down the number scale a few spots.
Let’s hope we never get FSU’d while having a once in a decade+ season and are right on the edge of CFP qualification…leaving it in the hands of people with subjective agendas.
We’re flying past each other due to semantics. If we go undefeated and win the B1G, we can't get FSUed under the new system. And if we aren't in that situation, then it's not getting FSUed.
