You must not have been at the Indiana game. Total duration 3 hrs. 54 mins. Granted, there was one overtime period, but I recall pointing out at the game when the game was exactly 3 hours old, we were just starting the 4th quarter. Lots of passing, replays, and injuries resulted in a way longer than usual game.
Indiana @ Illinois 11/11/23: KICKOFF TIME: 11:01 AM END OF GAME: 02:56 PM DURATION: 03:54
still way too long. need review officials moving this thing along. if you are carried off the field, you are out for the half. these two things would speed the game up 20 minutes on average.

We’ll beat a depleted Michigan squad on the 100rd anniversary of Grange’s big day. Mark it down.
You called a pretty good game back in '24.

With 3 near certain losses(@PSU, @Oregon, Michiggan)...

Our 6 most possible wins are probably EIU, CMU, Minnesota, Purdue, @RU, @Northwestern
EIU game has been replaced by Nebby.
1st game TBD will likely be a cupcake

What is the rumor that Brian Barnhart just spoke of regarding Kansas football (I think)?
Illini are backing out of the game next year in Champaign, supposedly. KU already has Syracuse scheduled and are waiting for Illinois to find their replacement before announcing.

I would be happy if there was a B1G realignment angle here and KU was the partner coming in with FSU. Would prefer the Jayhawks over some of the other options.

there is zero chance KU is getting an invite

if no other ACC schools are able to shake free, FSU will be a standalone add

I'd be disappointed if the Kansas game got booted, especially because we did them the favor of going to their house and getting obliterated this year. This would also be the second time we lose the home end of a home and home after the UConn game got cancelled. We definitely need some revenge. But if this is a sign that we are going to stack our noncon schedule with wins to help get halfway to 6 wins for a bowl game, then let's just do it. At the meeting I as at this weekend, person affiliated with the DIA said that we need to be "careful" in our nonconference scheduling in light of the Big Ten schedule moving forward. Hopefully this means we get rid of the Mizzou series, and doing what we have to do to stack the wins.

You mean like Mecheatagain (2023: East Carolina, UNLV, Bowling Green all at home)?

If you are wanting an easier schedule than I wouldn't schedule those teams. Games get scheduled in advance/changed but 2 of those 3 schools are playing in Bowl games. Might need to stick to FCS school and randoms(hope they have off years) if some are wanting an easier schedule.

Superstar 5-star quarterback Dylan Raiola heading to Nebraska after flipping from Georgia. Huge pickup for the Huskers. Program may finally be rising back from the dead after 25 years in the basement.

And this just adds to the Illini challenge to compete in the New Big Ten. Great new teams coming in... and legacy teams building up their rosters to compete at a whole new level from the past.

He’s just one guy. But that signals that the sleeping Big Red giant is waking up. And as other teams gets stronger... the Illini need to respond.

just maybe he end up in Nebraska because that young man changes his commitments at will.If am not mistaken that might be his 3 commitments already and you figure he still got about a year to go.

I think we should let KU out of the game but require them to forfeit their 2023 win and a bowl to be named later.

I don't think big red GIANT term can be really used to describe Nebraska football unless you go to pre 2000 (23 years ago). I think Illinois better look out for Washington 13-0, Oregon 11-2, USC and Utah as opposed to an improved Nebraska. Or we could focus on beating .500 teams like NW.

That's where I was going. Used to be a true powerhouse. Collected a few National Championships back then. A couple Husker teams considered among the best ever. Real point of pride for a small State that mostly gets ignored. The whole State gets behind this team like few other places. Cooled off lately with the losing... but it won't take much to get the fire burning again over there.

Raiola's Dad was an All American lineman for NE and then played for the Lions. So maybe is a more natural destination than one would initially think

Georgia starting QB Carson Beck announced he was returning for another season and Dylan Raiola switched to Nebraska the same day. It comes down to opportunity for playing time. Huge addition for Nebraska

Would someone be able to catch me up on the Kansas game cancellation? Is it official? If so, has a replacement been named? Also, seems like I read the cancellation came from the Illinois side. If so, was the thinking that at this point it was more important to have a more winnable game to improve the likelihood of getting bowl eligible than have a potential sellout versus a good team, or were there other factors in play?

Not official, insiders on our end haven't heard anything definitive that we are cancelling. All the buzz says that Kansas already locked up Syracuse but the official announcement will come once we find a replacement.

I personally don't think we are backing out. JW is good at his job and likely wouldn't have ditched a home game against a good opponent without already having a replacement lined up. It also doesn't fit BB's mentality where we would play anyone, any time, anywhere.
