Welp... this was not what I expected to read today. When Josh outlined the 3 person panel process he put in place, I expected that to be the process by which TJ would be reinstated (if he was going to be reinstated this season). Obviously, a lot of details are still be filled in, but it seems like if TJ wins this restraining order, it would likely result in the end of that process in its entirety. I would think if the judge rules in TJs favor, they will need to do so on the basis that the process itself is impermissible, rather than looking at the specifics of this case. That would just be my guess though.

It is very possible (likely?) that people within UI support TSJ taking this route. We can't lose a PR battle if a court is the one deciding to let him play.
Bingo. Everyone saves face going this route.

TSJ would be within his legal right

UI would have their hands tied despite "objecting" to lifting the suspension.

The DA and TSJ's lawyer can work through how to keep the young lady's name from being dragged through the mud....which it would be, in court.

Yes. If the judge rules in Terrence favor it can be extended for the rest of the season and even later
This is not right. A PI hearing would be required unless the parties agree and that is essentially a mini trial. TSJ would not enjoy 5th Amendment privilege in this suit so it’s pretty risky.

I was just able to get caught up.....I am all for what TJ and his team is doing. Whatever it takes to get back on that court and lead us to a National Championship. Hopefully this TRO gets pushed through by a U of I grad who is a huge basketball fan and we get back to rolling.

Can he get the court to order Brad to suit him up/start him/play a mandatory number of minutes? What if the school lets him practice but not play in games? Then what? Do we have demonstrators on game day outside of Assembly Hall, some for playing TSJ, some against the idea? What a potential PR nightmareN
No way Brad does not play him.

I promise you that in the roughly 18 months he practiced he did not handle a TRO.

Also if this goes through Wednesday would he even be able to play Thursday? He hasn’t been able to work with the team but have coaches been able to still do individual film and scout prep with him so he is ready to go at a moments notice? Would make sense with how up in the air it has all felt. It’s still TSJ so likely an unprepared TSJ is still the best player on the court.

As a few others have stated I hope this doesn't put Brad in an uncomfortable situation with the media. I assume he'll have a lot of "no comment on an ongoing legal proceeding". The idea of the panel was to take these types of things off the plate of coaches.
Just have to hope if he does play that somehow the legal side gets cleared up sooner than later. I don't want this to be the national story of the NCAA tournament.

This doesn’t feel as good as I think we hoped this could get figured out. I will be thrilled to get him back on the court ASAP. But if the charges are still a cloud over his head as he plays out the rest of the season, it will unfortunately be negativity we will have to face every gym we go into moving forward. I feel decently about his innocence, but the masses at large don’t know enough to believe that he might have been wronged in this situation.

Also, can the university really secretly support him doing this if it basically destroys the university’s policy it established for this type of situation?
" it will unfortunately be negativity we will have to face every gym we go into moving forward"

I'm afraid, RedWing, that will be the case regardless of how it plays out.

In the big picture, that will be down in the noise level, barely detectable in what matters.
