But if the bots cancel each other out, it’ll be the small contributions from us individuals that’ll put him over the top. We got way more contributors than Northwestern does.we can't complete with BOTs LOL
I think it really just varies a lot class to class. Some years you get a Derrick Rose or Anthony Davis others you get a Markelle Fultz or Ben Simmons.I have to wonder how overvalued these top 10 kids are with P5 schools now loading up on seasoned/experienced transfers every year, plus the caveat that you probably only get these players for one season (and its a season in which they're brand new to this level, body/strength may be lacking compared to 23 y/o players, etcetera).
If you took the #2 and #3 kids off of 247's rankings and those were your best players on your team- how good would that team be? The #2 and #3 players this year were Isiah Collier and Justin Edwards. Decent, but... meh? Collier is averaging 15 ppg but his team is terrible (8-11 USC). Edwards is averaging 8 ppg for Kentucky, but if he's your #2 guy, then how good is your team? Last year Dereck Lively and Tariq Whitehead were #2 and #3, and they were fine role players on a good Duke team, averaging 8 and 5 ppg respectively. But, if they were your 1A/1B guys... again, how good is your team? Many of these kids, no matter the ranking, (1) need another year to be good college players, but (2) they get drafted on potential so you only get one season from them. As far as being effective, needle-moving college players, they are typically very hit & miss and not a sure thing at all.
They're going to need to hit the portal hard but if they do could very likely be the best team in the Big10 if that can gel.I think we kind of agree then that Rutgers is going to need more than just those two guys. Then, the year after that, they're likely history anyway.

If Cliff sticks around pair that with the incoming freshman plus Griffith and Simpson add 2-3 impact transfers(basically just a class like the Illini did).
I think you need to have the solid base of the roster which you build with the returnees and transfer but the two freshman are your upside guys. They raise the ceiling on the team kinda like Miller did for Alabama last year. Then, I'd argue their success hinges more on Cliff/Griffith/Simpson/Other Returnees and the 2-3 impact xfers than expecting a ton from a couple of 18-19 year olds. I just think this is the way in college basketball now. Top 5/10 players seem to have pretty high ceilings, but usually they come in and have one mediocre-ish season and then it's on the league.
Not worried about Rutgers I’m more worried about Ohio State and Indiana tbh. OSU will bring back their guards and Indiana will use it’s crazy NIL to land some big fish in the portal along with Liam McNeeley who I’ve watched in person and can confirm he’s the real deal. Nonetheless, Illinois will be just fine and continue to run the Big10 especially when Edey is gone! They're going to need to hit the portal hard but if they do could very likely be the best team in the Big10 if that can gel.

We would love to have the #2 and #3 recruits in the country...with the portal they should be able to compete with most anyone...Then, I'd argue their success hinges more on Cliff/Griffith/Simpson/Other Returnees and the 2-3 impact xfers than expecting a ton from a couple of 18-19 year olds. They're spending a lot of money, surely they will in the portal too...We would too for a chance at a Natty..That's what I'm saying. I'm not so sure those players are optimal with the current CBB landscape.
But yes, you still take them / recruit them. I already said that much.
Why do we assume Indiana’s NIL is any better than ours? Not worried about Rutgers I’m more worried about Ohio State and Indiana tbh. I don't think it's an assumption. It's derived from chatter. Gossip based. Definitely hard to get a clear handle on.Why do we assume Indiana’s NIL is any better than ours?
If Pikiell can nab two top 3’s…
