So FAU loses again and falls out of the rankings. What is our best win this year?

Rutgers (84) @ Minnesota (81) tied at half.

I'm thinking we want Rutgers to win this game, seeing as how Illinois has defeated them twice. Plus them doing well and making there way to top 75 would help the Illini's resume. Yeah?
Our win at the RAC would be a Quad 1 win. Don’t think both of these teams will end up in the top 75 & we don’t play at the barn this year…. So you’re probably rooting for Rutgers to continue climbing.

We’ve won the games we should outside of home against Maryland and away at Northwestern (which honestly was a toss up). I believe we were underdogs against Mich State at their place. We will need either home against Purdue or away at Wisconsin to sniff a better seed line IMO so I don’t think it matters as one of those will be our best win.

By a country mile
Does anyone know a site that has shot charts for free? I’m curious what Edey’s looks like. I acknowledge his impact to the game due to size, but it seems like he’s useless on offense unless he catches the ball within 7’ of the basket. He doesn’t move without the ball aside from the basic pick and roll action.

These are his Player of the Week Highlights, and it’s simply being big and being next to the basket in every single one.

I think Rutgers has a decent chance to give Purdue 2 losses in a row on Thursday. Almost got them at the RAC, and they’ve gone up a level since they’ve gotten Williams. Glad we don’t have to play them the rest of the year outside of BTT.
They aren't a good road team even with the addition of Williams, who has helped RU a lot but is just a decent but not great guard, IMO.

Minny is handling them pretty good right now, don't see them beating PU on the road if they can't even beat Minny but who knows, would be great for us.

A men's player with a Clark-like skillset would destroy Edey because he'd just pull him out to guard the 3 pointer and dribble right past him. But Clark is a girl with a slow and low release and a below the rim finisher. Could Edey cause her more problems than it would seem?

And Edey is extremely limited as a dribbler/driver. Does Clark get steals in WBB? Anytime you make Edey pick up his dribble he's screwed.

C'mon you two, you're in the NIL business now, let's make this happen!
I watched a current or former NBA player whose name was known but I can't recall it now who was asked the question about someone like Clark or Griner joining the NBA. He said basically if you gave them a few years to adjust to the game, they could do well. But inserting them into a men's game with all of its physicality when they have member played in that probably would not go well.

I tend to think a 1-on-1 might play out differently though. Especially with a deadeye shooter like Clark.

Well right, women just don't have the physical strength or speed for the top level men's game. Least of all Clark whose whole commercial appeal is how ordinary looking she is.

But there has never been a female player who could make a top men's player guard her as far away from the hoop as Clark. Edey is enormous and it might not be quite as far out as we think, but it's outside the 3 point line anyway. He can't just let her shoot 3's, he's got to come out and stop her. Can she make it to the rim and finish before he can lumber back and block it? It's all a question of timing, those are either easy layups or easy swats, we'd have to try it to find out.

And then if Edey is anywhere near the rim Clark is irrelevant defensively, but we've never really even seen Edey try to handle the ball at all. Is he coordinated enough to just wall her off and back her down from 25 feet keeping his dribble and her away from the ball? I have no idea, we'd have to try it to find out.

Well now I want to watch it. How much is the pay-per-view?

I think we all understand that a Big Ten championship is at this point a pretty big longshot, but one we'll give our all towards of course.

"Most Big Ten Wins The Past 5 Years" on the other hand, really hangs in the balance.

Illinois 65 Purdue 63, we have 6 games left to play, they have 5. If they win out we have to go 4-2 in order to stay alone in first.

Outside of Michigan, Indiana is the most lifeless team I’ve seen this year. Just a meh team all the way around. My guess is they change coaches this off season.
Not sure about this. They lost 6 of their top 9 players from last year's team. I think unless they feel they can get a home run hire, Woodson will probably be back next year. They've coaches quite often in the last 10-15 years there and I don't see them in a rush to move on from Woodson. With all of that being said I do wonder why IU hired Woodson in the first place. It never made sense to me even though he's a former IU player.

If Edey leaves this year, I think we will see some separation in the coming years..... that is my expectation.....

And speaking of Edey, I'm very curious to see what the NBA thinks of him. I've not looked at any Mock Drafts so have no idea. I wish Kofi had stuck around so we could all see the Edey/Cockburn matchups..... would have been must-see-TV !

You might find the results of the study surprising…
I’ve seen that study before, but I don’t buy the conclusion that a smaller ball doesn’t make it easier to shoot. It takes years to build muscle memory for shooters- if you introduce a smaller ball to a portion of players for just a season it’s not surprising shooting % may have dipped while they are getting used to a smaller and lighter ball- but if you give more time it’s absolutely an advantage - it’s the same size hoop so you have more margin for error need less effort to shoot, etc

I don’t think it’s a long shot at all. Their loss today was huge. Badgers are reeling. I think we take care of business at AH and let’s see what happens!

Wild end to UCLA and Utah. Couple of seconds on the clock and Utah takes it down, shoots a layup and UCLA blocks it knocking up where the ball bounces off the top of the blackboard and falls toward the basket where Utah tips it in. Never seen that before!

I've got some good news of who we're getting next year, but that's gonna have to wait

Good thing I stocked up on popcorn!

Yeah I mean that's lovely, but it's a completely fresh sheet of paper and Purdue can add transfers too, following on from the previous comment.

But anyway I'm personally torn. It's obviously the right thing competitively for Illinois to load up on vets in the portal again and I'm sure we will and I'm confident we'll do well. But like, this is terrible for college basketball and the rotating cast of mercenaries is making me care less? It also really seems like we can't go on like this forever?

Just win BU and ignore everything else, but this sucks for the sport of college basketball.
