Game already is spiced up.

Last thing I want to see is Bruce Pearl ever step foot in the real Assembly Hall.

Iowa didn't even have make the trip to Champaign in the middle of the Deon Thomas saga if memory serves. They knew better.
100% correct. I was at that game. I’m not sure what was more enjoyable-Illinois crushing Iowa, the relentless energy of the fans to break the will of Dr. Tom, or my dad verbally lighting up a hayseed Iowa fan with six teeth sitting two rows behind me after 14 year old me turned around to ask her to quit calling Ervin Small a rapist. My favorite line was when she said all Illinois people were sick and he asked her if all Iowa people were idiots based on how she was acting.

I realize that big money is big money, but if I’m McDermott I think long and hard before leaving Creighton. He’s got a good gig there. That’s easily the biggest game in town, and he seems to recruit kids that he can develop and really coach up. No reason at all why they couldn’t consistently be right at the top of the Big East. He really wasn’t a great fit at Iowa State and took a “soft landing” job where he’s done well.

Just doesn’t seem like the hassles and stress of a job like Ohio State would be worth it except for a lot more money. But I also realize that can often be the biggest or even only factor.

If there is a positive to Beelzebub possibly migrating to Indiana…it would be the very real possibility that Bloomington ends up doing what it does to the profession. I hope it eats him him up and spits him out…

(& he ends up destitute or a cheap haberdasher in Beirut)

The place is like a giant woodchipper for coaches…with any luck he would go the way of: Davis, Dakich, Sampson, Crean, Archie Miller, and now maybe Woodson.

ALSO…for all Indiana U’s self-proclaimed awesomeness…have you ever looked at the coaches records that are not named: Branch McCracken & Bobby Knight?
(I thought Everett Dean was a bigger deal.)

Anywho….It ain’t all that…
i've said before on this board that IU, outside of McCracken and Knight, has been a mediocre basketball program. And that first NCAA title, they didn't even win the Big 10 championship. Purdue did, but school officials elected not to go. Now, IU did beat them twice that year, but weren't the league champs. That being said, I wouldn't mind having a little bit of their history on our ledger.

I would rather him not come to IU. Having to explain why we as a fanbase are venomously angry about something that happened almost 40 years ago just sounds like something that is bound to make us look like even more toxic than how the Online Illini (myself included) appear to the outside world.

My predictions on the B1G coaching carousel:

THEEEEEE OSU: McDermott (He really wanted the Illini gig years ago from what I recall.)

Indiana: Dusty May (I don't think they go for any older coaches this time around, and I'm not sure they'd hire Archie's brother. They'll also get turned down by some big-timers.)

Michigan: Nate Oats (unfortunately)

That's when things get interesting. Who gets the 'Bama job? What other jobs will open up in the near future?

Don't think Oats leaves Bama for Michigan

Not to ever defend Indiana but how many programs are programs would not be mediocre if you take away their two most successful coaches?

Kansas. They only have one coach with a losing record in their history (Naismith). Take away Self and Roy Williams (they have the highest win %), and they still have Larry Brown and Phog Allen with national titles.

Maybe Kentucky too?

No way Indiana is dumb enough to hire May, we aren't that lucky

Gene and McDermott don’t like each other.
