I’ve been Iowa bashing for the last hour since leaving Kalispell MT….my First Officer not really laughing along…..finally looks over and tells me he’s from Iowa!
:ROFLMAO::devilish:
SUCK IT IOWA!
Memories light the corners of my mind,
Misty, water-colored memories…

Don't mean to be a downer, but is everybody going to drop at least 80 on the Illini the rest of the season?
You're not being a downer, but you have to expect that now. We have a problem in the backcourt defensively. With this team, it's where it all starts. BU put shot blockers in the game to try and balance that out. Our ability to guard the dribble drive is abysmal.

A couple of thoughts:

1) I don’t think the defense was as bad as it seemed in the 1st half. Iowa made some really tough shots. I still hate that they don’t hedge at all on the high pick and roll especially against a team that loves the mid-range game. Last 15 minute, D was pretty darn good. If not for all FTs, Iowa was struggling to get good shots.

2) AH’s minutes in the 1st half was gigantic. Not a perfect day, but showing what he can offer.

3) Captain Obvious: CHawkins was fantastic.

4) Captain Obvious 2- huge game from Nico. Shots were obviously big but he played some super solid D especially the last 10 minutes. I think we should temper expectations going forward…quicker and bigger guards will give him some trouble. But today he was amazing and can provide a lift for sure.

Would have liked to have seen DGL get some minutes b/c he has that dog in him. Big-time win in a game that started UGLY.

Well BU actually made an in-game adjustment and it worked getting PT for Nico and Amani. Gotta wonder why they didn't get more time in the season outside of their injuries. Finally got some production from QG and DD did a few nice things out there but also missed too many bunnies. TSJ's D in the last few minutes was a huge factor in the win as well. When we stagnate in our half-court offense, Nico can provide better ball movement and secondary to that, player movement. His D was decent- mostly stayed in front of his man. What to do about Ty? His D is not as sharp lately and the lack of any chance to score from more than 5 feet hurts playing him near end of games but he brings so many intangibles that are winning plays. Harmon was good today and nice to see us do well with MD not contributing nearly as much as usual.
We still have a lot of tough games coming up and need to win most of them to get a 3 seed.

Win out and get a couple in the BTT and I think a 3 might be possible
I have to stop you here. I respect all of our posters a TON, but given the last month and the Moretti rabbit out of the hat ....forget tournament seeding. We're nowhere close to a top 3 seed. Don't let one win cloud the reality, which is we're struggling to hold teams under 80 and it took Moretti coming out of left field(plus an all world game by Hawkins) to win that game. That was a troubling first 30 minutes.

Thankful we won.
