Coleman's gone barring something crazy ...

Goode is welcome back but may look to get more PT elsewhere depending on what we bring in ... He will walk tomorrow with the seniors ...

Domask ... They're gonna try ... I think there's a case ... But this is the NCAA we talking about ... It's pretty comparable to the DeVito situation honestly ...
If Goode were to walk, I'm going to be behind fascinated to see how BU puts our team in the tournament next year. If he can pull that off, I would be impressed beyond words.

I'm trying to enjoy every second of this year.

The way the courts have weighed in lately, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone test the years played rule. The courts don't seem to be too afraid of the NCAA any longer.
Afraid? They've been dealing the NCAA body blow after body blow. They're not too far to be on the mat. It might be hard to recognize things as we know it fairly soon. Not sure if that's good or bad.

What the h*ll are these takes in the last page or so?

Domask has a very good argument to get another year. Have we not also seen how the NCAA is getting pwn3d with regard to how they're trying to force their restrictions on players?

No Goode = No tourney?

Keeping Goode would be huge for continuity of the culture and program and all of that intangible stuff. We saw what happened last year when there’s too much turnover from a culture/leadership perspective.

If Luke leaves would probably be turning to Ty and Amani as culture guys, which is doable but that’s asking a lot. Hope Luke sticks around. He’s had his struggles this year but he’s a great floor spacer who is a sneaky good rebounder and uses his size/positioning etc to be an effective defender at times depending on the matchup. Unless we bring in 4 TJs I still think there’s 20 minutes for him next year.

not gonna dwell on last season's squad, but a team full of Goodes wouldn't have stopped Clark or Epps going off the rails. It's a nice fairy tale though.

just to be clear, I am NOT suggesting "good soldiers" have no intrinsic value or that intangibles don't matter

? Underwood navigates that portal as well as any coach in the country. It's not a question of whether or not we'll be talented/good enough to be a tourney team next year, it's how good we'll be

Absolutely cannot wait for the usual meltdowns from our resident doomers #onhere when Goode transfers to Valpo or something in the offseason and they start posting how Brad just lost the best shooter in the conference and we're never going to make the tourney again.

I was looking at it more as it's yet another replacement. How many guys would we actually have returning and how many positions would we have to fill via portal?

We'd probably be losing....95% of productivity in all major stat line?

Bruh.......last year we had lost Kofi, Grandison, Trent, Damonte, Curbelo, Plummer, Podz .......by all accounts had a disappointing season/finish but still finished top 40 in kenpom, top half of the B1G, and comfortably made the tourney.

Methinks we'll survive if Goode leaves lmao

I love Goode as a person. He seems like the ideal teammate and can shoot the 3pter with the best of him.
Talking about not making the tournament because we lose Goode is an insane take. He's the 8th best player on this team.
Here's his stats for the season. You combine that with perhaps the worst defense on the team and I hardly think it's the end of the world if we lose him.

The thing I don't get with Marcus: his injury year already doesn't count towards his current eligibility because it was the "COVID year". Not saying that's a deal-breaker, I'm just curious what our argument against that will be—and won't be surprised if that's what the NCAA bases their decision on.

Couple of thoughts:

As someone who obsesses over all things Illini the portal keeps me going for a couple months after the season is over and I love it.

This will be BUs most difficult offseason in terms of the amount of talent he’ll need to bring in to maintain success. I fully believe he’s capable.

We've needed Luke to get hot from 3 for the last 2+ months. Outside of only the 1st Purdue game, it hasn't happened.

In 2024 he is probably the 7th guy on our team that I'd want to take a 3 (TSJ, MD, CH, QG,JH, ~Nico M).
Over the last month Goode is shooting 42% from 3. He's not shooting a high volume each game (and I assume his minutes have decreased) but I'll take that efficiency.

I just figure we're not going to to get another year for Marcus but if we do it will be wonderful gift. Not going to spend a lot of time fretting over something completely out of our control.
