Might have disqualified him?How does that not go to Diebler? OSU was a trainwreck. He takes over and wins 5 straight... Thought that was the easiest vote of the day outside of player of the year...
Hawkins having to guard so many true big 5s out of his true position of a 4 that he did struggle against kept him off the All D team. Lately Dain has been taking on more of that role and had that been the case sooner I feel Hawkins would have easily been on the All D team. Coaches went at Hawkins one on one with the power bigs down low and were successful doing so.All Defensive Team:
Ace Baldwin, PSU
Cliff Omoruyi, Rutgers
Zach Edey, Purdue
Chucky Hepburn, Wisc
Kel'el Ware, IU
Brooks Barnhizer, Northwestern
Absolute jokeAll Big Ten Second Team

Tony Perkins, Iowa (Coaches)

Ha, isn't that an argument against Underwood too then?Painter??? I like the guy, but geez. Real tough coaching a team with the B1G POY and another first teamer. Give me an f'in break
3rd Team:
Payton Sandfort, Iowa (C&M)
Ace Baldwin, PSU (C&M)
Dawson Garcia, Minn (Coaches)

Depends on the fitAbsolute joke
No way in hell any coach in the league would actually choose to have Tominaga or Perkins (?) over Coleman Hawkins if they could add one of them to their roster right now.
Except they didn't give it to Underwood when we won the conference or btt championship.Ha, isn't that an argument against Underwood too then?
We all know why TSJ wasn't unanimous. We don't have to like it and I certainly don't but we know why not everyone voted him first team.Do they release the coaches vote tallies?
I don't really get the logic of Buie but not TSJ as unanimous...
I feel the same way .Painter was named co-COTY? C’mon, his team was unanimously picked to win the B1G. Should’ve gone to Hoiberg alone.
Also, enough with these co-awards. Be decisive and pick one lol.
I predicted TSJ an non-consensus as well. Thought there could have even been an outside shot of him not being voted 1st team. Reason being that there would be voters who would leave him off entirely for the offcourt stuff, fair or not. For example, there's a reason why both Dug McDaniel and Kanye Clary both are MIA from all postseason honors lists despite having very competitive stats. Imagine a world where the both missed the games they did because of being injured instead of suspension/dismissal- they'd both have been at the very least all conference honorable mention (and likely higher). And there'd be other voters dropping him to say 2nd or 3rd team because they'd use the excuse that he didn't play the whole 20 games. Didn't see a possibility he'd be consensus media. TSJ probably was consensus 1st team for coaches though.Do they release the coaches vote tallies?

AP does have Newcomer of the Year among their B1G Awards, which went to Marcus. There should be Newcomer of the Year. Transfers are way more important in 2024 than freshmen. And obviously, Marcus should have won it.
Canadian politeness remains undefeatedQuincy Guerrier gets the nod for Illinois for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honorees (one per team)
Painter is incredibly overrated as a coach. Sorry. The guy almost always has at least one awesome player on his team. Who wouldn't win with the team he has the last 4-5 years?
