Does anyone know what is going on with Pearl not being signed at all? I was hoping him and Adams would be draft picks to help our recruiting
Eh the only thing that helps our recruiting right now is cold hard cash.

Are NIL payments tax deductible?
I think in a one-on-one marketing agreement, it would be. If a player gets paid for making a commercial for the local Ford dealer, then the player should pay tax and the dealer should get a deduction for marketing expense.one would think that if the NIL income by the player is taxable, it would be deductible by the "donor". but this is not a hard and fast rule

Donations to collectives from individuals, with pooled and shared money, that may be a different animal.
The painful truth. Also, we keep complaining about not being able to compete in this new system. Guess what? We weren't competing in the other system either. Our lane is building teams by finding system guys that may not be the best, but are good at what we need them to do. We are going to have to do twice the work for half the results, but unless Urban Meyer or some other top tier coach takes pity on us and uses us as a personal pet project, we are where we will be and generally always have been.
Success at Illinois is a winning season.
There was mention he wanted gtd playing time. No way he got that from MSU, so $$ seems more likely to me.
Wanted to be closer to home, so I was expecting Central Mich - I really, really was. There was mention he wanted gtd playing time. No way he got that from MSU, so $$ seems more likely to me.

We had an 8-5 season with the best talent we've had in years after a hot start, bookended by 5-7 seasons. If you thought 8-5 was the new standard, I have an MLM opportunity with your name on it.The painful truth.
"Illinois was going places, but then NIL came and messed it all up."
Around the end of the season, I looked up our records going back to the late 80s. In 40 years, we've only had back to back winning seasons twice. Once in the Zook era, and once with Simeon Rice, if I remember correctly. I didn't say good seasons, just better than .500 seasons. We had an 8-5 season with the best talent we've had in years after a hot start, bookended by 5-7 seasons. I have some calling cards. I've recruited you and another guy to sell them. You get a few guys yourself, and you get a cut of what they sell. Then they also get some guys under them, and you just start raking in the cash.Talk to me.
I’m just fine with a .500 average and maybe a bowl every other year. That’s not to say better isn’t preferred but after the last 40 years, .500 sounds like progress to me. I‘ll settle for competitively entertaining w/o blowouts. We had an 8-5 season with the best talent we've had in years after a hot start, bookended by 5-7 seasons. Honestly, I think we have the right situation at coach and his game plan. The university is doing everything they can to keep fan interest high and engaged. We have to do more with less and Bret is doing everything he can and I think he enjoys the grind a bit more than some.I’m just fine with a .500 average and maybe a bowl every other year. Are you sure that Dennis is because of NIL and not because he was homesick? Sure MSU can offer more NIL but I don't think that was the prevailing factor hereThe Dennis Effect. The kids a poster child of NIL and the transfer portal. That picture should be on every discussion.
Michigan is practically a border state. That's pretty weak if you move because of homesick. Does he plan to see his folks every weekend? Are you sure that Dennis is because of NIL and not because he was homesick? Sure MSU can offer more NIL but I don't think that was the prevailing factor here
