This whole situation is irritating. We're a few days before a pretty high profile scrimmage and a couple of weeks before the lights are on for real and there's absolutely nothing in either direction on him. The staff is shrugging their shoulders when it comes to his status. With OA being on the bench with his brother and seeing how far into the season that ran into.....we should have known that this was a very real outcome with Tomi.

I have to believe that this was a known issue from the jump and that we were prepared for it. Leaning on a true Freshman, with no depth behind him, doesn't seem like we were prepared for it. Freshmen have a habit of doing freshmen things with #1 on that list being cheap and and often lazy(slapping) fouls. That just comes with the territory of being able to stuff everyone in HS to playing against grown men in college.

Our paint production/protection is going to be a sore spot early on. I hope this gets resolved sooner rather than later.
I don't understand what you wanted the staff to do. Not recruit him? You are asking for the staff to anticipate what one of the most inept organizations around will do?

another memory lane post: a salute to Nnanna...

bring back the zig-zags!!! said no one, ever
Wow, not just a pic of Nnanna on offense, but also as part of the background is Michigan player Bielfeldt watching the play. My understanding was that his family always liked to watch Illinois basketball (and I never figured out what happened to Bielfeldt to send him there).

The athletics admin building is named after his family, so...

I want to word this carefully because you're right, we should never, ever run away from a quality player. That's just irresponsible. However, OA was court side to see the chaos that occurred with his brother. He didn't get on the floor for almost two months. Was there a different set of circumstances here? Could be. If we did think that there was a legitimate chance that significant time would have gone by before clearance, I don't think that putting all of your eggs(with regards to rim protection) in a freshman's basket.
