Can we dispense with the “9th best team in the SEC” stuff, as though we should have run all over them? That’s a top 25 team playing in their house.

It seems like BU get what he wanted out of it. A few of our guys needed to get humbled. The only way to learn the value of a possession and what moves and passes won’t continue to work at this level is to have them fail. The only thing less fun than playing physical and intense defense for 40 minutes is losing. You have to pay the cost to beat good teams. These guys had not learned that yet. Fortunately, they are still 0-0.

Hopefully this will help those here who've been dialing up unreasonable expectations for this team reign it in along with all of that "Fab Five" and "Why aren't we ranked in the top 20?" stuff. This is a really young team with some talent but next to no experience working together. Expect a lot of growing pains, particularly early in the season.
Well said. Some were getting a little carried away with their expectations and were bothered with being outside of the top 25 to start the year. It's going to be a bumpy road early and in some of the games, it's going to be infuriating.

As it currently stands, I don't think that one guy knows their role yet. Not one. That's on top of the inexperience across the board.

There are going to be guys that some believed will play big roles before the season starts that ultimately will get spot minutes and some that were believed to have spot minutes that will be key cogs.

Those who play defense + those who take care of the ball = those that will get the bulk of the minutes.

Would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed in the play today. But we have a lot of great pieces and I think a really good coach who knows how to mold a team. He certainly will have their attention these few weeks before the real games start. Much work to do pretty much all the way around, but like the upside.

Until the UConn game, we didn’t lose by more than 10 last year. We were spoiled.

So many TO’s, missed FT’s, and little D. Got run out of the stadium by the projected 9th best SEC team.

I see our talent, potential, and remain high on this team. Disappointed by the lack of a leader to settle the team down and limit TO’s. Brad, run’em!
We are going to play much better SEC teams going forward.

That KJ dude was awful. Really liked what I saw from DGJ and Morez. Itchy should be one of the best bigs in the Big 10. 5 star frosh is as advertised. Everyone else was pretty meh. Obvious there is lots of talent here and this group will be very good in January. Going to be some ugly losses early. There will be at least one if not two players that leave mid-season. Not enough minutes to go around.

Quick hits

1. Rather have an Uber talented team that can get better than under talented team that is over achieving. We are talented.

2. Bigs are talented, see Tomi and Morez playing at Center. See Booth playing 4 occasionally for big line up or matching up against bigs. Booth/Morez line up looked good, Ole Miss made contested tough shots against them. Hi-lo potential.

3. KJ has to be a total PG. Teammates will not be happy not being involved offensively. Over penetrated today and shot too many 3s

4. Boswell played ok, think needs more PG time. DJL much improved, will be 3rd guard.

5. Tre will be fine, just wasn't involved as much due to #3. Riley not physically ready for upper level teams. Offense much further ahead of defense, would like fir him to be a two year player. Didn't see much of Ty, he will be solid come real games.

Overall team is talented. Need to run better offense, less 3s, decrease turnovers, better defense intensity. Play as s team on both sides of ball.

10 random thoughts after facing a very good Ole Miss squad:

1. Ole Miss was the varsity squad today...we were the JV unit
2. plenty of mistakes...nothing that can not be fixed
3. Ole Miss will finish top 4-5 in SEC
4. Morez is gonna be very good
5. May not be official ...but Dre is the team captain
6. I'm thinking KJ learned a lot about the collegiate game today
7. Coaching staff will put emphasis on communicating on defense in practice
8. Free Throw %......hopefully this isn't the norm
9. Value the ball....20+ TO's will not make anyone happy...especially Brad
10. We're not a team yet....a group of individual players trying to figure out how to play as a team

The fact that we had 20+ TO, had an off shooting day (FTs), and ole miss shot lights out…I will take a 17 pt loss with a rookie squad to a veteran ranked team.

I would love to be a fly on the wall for practice this week. Have a feeling Brad will find a way to instill some tenacity into them.

I didn't watch or follow the game, but I'm surprised by a few things in the comments:

*Boswell not mentioned until about post 35
*Boswell only mentioned a couple times
*Comments about our poor ball handling and movement
*Comments about Boswell should play more PG

Isn't Boswell a PG? I thought that is why we sought him and brought him (or bought him, if you please)??
