Sounds like Gundy has a meeting with the BoD tomorrow to likely tell him this is his last chance. Gundy has been there for a while, but hard to imagine a coach surviving calling his fans white trash and his players Ghetto rats.

he needs the school to drum up NIL money. My son graduated from OkSt, so I follow the program.
They are way behind in that.
It's more like T. Boone passed and they didn't replace that revenue stream. They are trying though, they are having a concert series in the spring where tickets go directly to NIL, they also tried the QR code thing.

Fair enough. I can actually think of two ways to describe how I really feel.

If I learned Bruce Pearl was going to be launched into the sun, I'd sign up and drive the bidding high to be the one to throw the switch.

If I saw Bruce Pearl on fire on the side of the road, I wouldn't stop to relieve myself on him.

Those two statements are probably more representative of my true feelings.

Is the bolded part have anything to do with the Aussie joke, "Why is the Koala the national animal of Australia? Because he eats(,) roots and leaves."

I'll let Pruman tell you what 'roots' is slang for in Australia.
1. It was a best-selling book on grammar ~ 20-some years ago IIRC: Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation

2. I learned what "root" means Down Under (sorry...that's an unintentionally awful pun) ~ 20 yrs ago. Working at my multinational employer back then, we had a team of around a dozen people convene at HQ from around the world to work on a project. Had a colleague from New Zealand working with me during the week. We were gathering and organizing some business performance data. We couldn't find something we needed and I told him: "No worries," (like a well-oiled tool, I smugly thought I'd use an Aussie/Kiwi phrase to make him feel welcome), "I've got some electronic files on this topic and I'll just root around and see if I can find it."

I still still recall the look of complete horror on his face. Thank goodness I wasn't working with a woman when I said that.

Don't ever tell an Antipodean that you "root" for the Illini, or any other team for that matter.

If UNC were to hire Belichick, they will have fired a 73 year old to get a coach his junior by one year. I guess they would be hoping recruits (both HS and portal) would be flocking over solely because of the coaching pedigree of Belichick and getting them in the league. 2024 is such a strange year.

Personally, I would love to just see Belichick staying on in his first quarter role with the Manning brothers on MNF.

He'll be their Love. Steve and Brian somewhat more qualified than Miles.

He ain’t going to NC
Is he just trying to create a buzz so he can leverage that for something else then? More TV salary? higher profile HC opportunity? GM? If it's not for something like that then I don't even get why he'd entertain it.

Im not sure…maybe helping NC create some buzz….there’s gonna be 7+ open NFL jobs….id be shocked if he and Vrabel don’t get one.

Belichick to discuss possible openings for Offensive co-ordinator Lovey Smith to join at UNC...saying we share the same road to success.
